Lazy eye headlight 2/3 pop up

I have found a way to do this for s13s manually, the only draw back is whenever it gets dark and you turn on your headlight it will go back to normal, it's only good for the daytime.

open your hood, you should see 2 motor: on the right and left, pry open the cap to each motor and when you do, you should see a little round gear, manually twist the gear until desired height. Put the cap back on and you're set.

I was wondering if the motor uses resistance on the voltage to do the physical work, if it is I think theres a way I can homemade the pivot controller that they sell for $85. But I wanna know if this is true or something more complexed than that.
