Well, about two months go, I had my windows tinted to 35%. I would have liked to go darker, but it was the legal limit and I didn't want to run into inspection problems. However, just recently I made the switch from glasses to contacts, and have found that my eyes are a lot more sensitive to light. Not to mention I also have an astigmatism (along with the other half of the world). My optometrist told me that I should go back in to get a prescription for sunglasses or tint on my windows! Pretty sure you know what prescription I chose! Bottom line is that i'm unsure if it is ok to layer window tint. By layering I mean placing new tint over old tint. So far, I have called two shops, one said to peel it of and start fresh, the other said it was ok to layer it. Any opinions??? Has anyone layered tint before?

I looked up a few tint specialist websites about layering tint and most have said that it is only recommended for windows that stay stationary.

If I were you i would just remove the first layer and a apply a fresh [darker] one, it would have to suck after applying new tint then to have the thing eventually look like complete crap. Then you'll end up replacing it all anyway

Yeah, i'm probably just going to have it peeled off. I'm only going to get the darker tint on my driver window and passenger window, so hopefully it wont run me too much money.
