OMG, I'll bet McCain has a heart attack from the pressure. 250,000 miles on the original engine (can't be good).

(CNN puts Obama up by 1)

Look at that, McCain doesn't seem to have a chance in Nov.

I guess I'm the only one watching the DNC. They just talked about the polls, and what is really going on. They feel that many of the Clinton supporters are venting a little by supporting McCain. However, they also said that each day more and more were returning to Obama.

Also, they are seeing a trend in the working class (typically McCain) re looking at Obama. The female vote, which was behind Hillary seems to be slowly returning to Obama too. Even the minority support Clinton enjoyed seems to be shifting back towards Obama. The real poll is the one on Nov 4th., the rest of these are all about nada.

Wkipedia merely collected the data. The polls are from many, different, credible sources.

Amen. Like I have said, these polls are short surveys of whomever happens to want to click that day. Republicans are quiet in the polls, loud in the voting booth. Probably because the Republicans are all at work instead of taking web polls.

The margin always narrows closer to the election, no one expected Obama to maintain an 9 point lead or whatever into November.

In general, across all polls over the last, say, 30 days, Obama is still trouncing McCain.

Ultimately though, you need to look at this from an electoral standpoint, not a popular one. Obama appears to have a commanding lead in electoral votes, and despite the importance being placed on it, he will *not* have to win in states like Virginia in order to become President. He could win in the normal standby Democratic states (which is extremely likely) and still take the White House. If he wins Colorado or VA or something like that, that'll be gravy.

I think it's interesting that the Hillary supporters, who initially left the Obama camp in favor of McCain, are returning to the left. Those who claim to support McCain will most likely vote 3rd. party or not vote at all.

Besides, Hillary is being very vocal about her support of the dem party and the Obama team. I'm very optimistic but I'm not betting the farm yet.

That was to be expected.

Did you or anyone honestly believe that millions of HILLARY CLINTON supporters and ardent feminists are going to vote for a PRO LIFE candidate? Not in a million billion years. They also aren't likely so dense that they don't realize that not voting or voting 3rd party wouldn't effectively also be a vote for McCain.

Just like how McCain would be wise to pick a centrist VP like Lieberman or Romney, as it doesn't matter how much he pisses off the right, what are they going to do, vote for Obama? Not likely.

This election, as with most, is won in the center. Cater to the extremists in the primaries, get the nomination, and then walk to the center. Every. Single. Time.

I am sure that there will be a little "kick" provided by the media hype over the DNC this week.

Just as equally likely, if the media is at all unbiased (hah!), there will be a kick next week in the other direction.

Obama should be ahead by at least 10 points at this point in the election considering his hope and change message and what the media has told us is going to be some kind of landslide. Weird, isn't it?

It really depends on which poll you look at, but again, the only one that counts is the one on Nov. 4th. Sometimes polls work against a candidate. If either candidate had a 10 point lead, many of that candidates supporters might not bother voting.

I know it does, I was just posting it for the sake of general information, as ultimately what really matters it the electoral vote.
