Thanks to the help of this forum, TrueDelta received 25 responses covering 66 months of ownership for the 2008 Altima.
Though the result is asterisked owing to a marginal sample size, the result of 36 successful repair trips per 100 vehicles is about half that for the 2007 and better than average. This suggests that reliability has substantially improved for the car's second model year.
The survey covered through the end of 2007. Any repairs that were completed in January or February won't be included until the next update, in May. With TrueDelta's process, we'll be able to report any change in repair rates soon after it happens.
Other model years:
For the 2002 Nissan Altima, we received an average of 4.4 months of data on 14 cars. This is a very small sample, so the result is asterisked. The stat of 77 successful repair trips per 100 vehicles per year (0.8 per vehicle) is about average, maybe a little better than average, for a 2002 model.
For the 2005 Nissan Altima, we received an average of 3.3 months of data on 25 cars--the bare minimum for avoiding an asterisk. The stat of 58 successful repair trips per 100 vehicles per year (0.6 per vehicle) is about average, maybe a little better than average, for a 2005 model.
For the 2007 Nissan Altima, we received an average of 5.6 months of data on 69 cars, one of the largest sample sizes. The stat of 71 successful repair trips per 100 vehicles per year (0.7 per vehicle) is about average for a 2007 model.
