OK, so I finally got my car on the dyno (now that I work for the company that owns the dyno) and got the results I was hoping for. Last dyno I got 232 HP, 234 lb/ft @ 14 psi thanks to a boost leak. Found the problem (ARC side mount mounting holes go through to the core).

OK, the "Base run" on this chart is 11 psi after slight tuning. This will be my every day driving and scca setting. The "Test run" is at 15 psi. This will be my drag/waste the guys at work (tough since everyone of them are in modified Subarus, including several STi's) setting.

Mods include: 440cc injectors, Nismo FPR, 3" turbo-back exhaust, ARC side mount intercooler, GT28R turbo, Walbro fuel pump, Greddy Profec B spec II, custom tune ECU (yaaay romulator), crappy spark plugs for tuning, Q45 MAF (stick to Z32 if you are smart), oh yeah, an AFE cone filter too.

BTW, I ran it up to 18 psi and only gained 1 lb/ft and 0 hp. Looks like I will need better cams to get much more. The engine other than mods listed is totally stock with poor compression in 1 cylinder and somewhat poor in another.

Nice job! If I am not mistaken, the GT28R and S15 T28 are pretty much the same, right? If so, those are damn good numbers. As a side note, I would be careful with those 440cc injectors. The duty cycle on those poor things must be 95%+ seeing as 450cc injectors hit 85% duty cycle around 275hp.

I think the injectors are fine for this power as I have the FPR set to make them about equivalent to a 520cc or so. As for the GT28R, it is actually a bit smaller than the S15 turbo IIRC. I think the exhaust sides are the same, but the compressor housing is a bigger a/r on the S15 I think.

I see you are using some type of romulator to make your own custom roms. I am curious as to what the exact software/setup is that you are using. I would MUCH rather go that route than with a SAFC or the like...

I have the pocket romulator and a program called Rom Editor. I also got a program called Live Edit for making changes while on the dyno, but I have yet to get that program to work with my USB adapter. I got the MAF map from a guy in Japan. I also got the baseline map for my setup from him. I got some generic Rom burner from ebay for like $40 I think.

Nice. I am going to look into that definitely. Between the price of the pocket romulator and an eprom burner, that's the same price as a SAFC.

Spectre23: could you post me your .bin file? My setup is totally different but I'd like to see an example of .bin with changed injectors/MAF. Tried this on mine but smth. went wrong so must be missing smth...

Here is my bin file. Look above for what mods this is tuned for. And tuning is far from complete... Damn USB-serial issues.

awsome numbers, on a dynojet, thats about 315-320WHP. nice to know what i should be looking at for my setup in terms of power, cept i have a little more in terms of mods. like a FMIC, tubular manifold and 3" dump tube and 550CC injectors.

Because it is so big, it is very difficult to get it to idle right. Also, when you look at the A/F readout on the dyno chart (I didn't post that) it shows some wavyness once on boost which can be a sign that the MAF is too big. Also, it was tough to get the MAF map on the ECU done right to get proper resolution out of it. Although you should be able to pull that off my .bin file if you need it. That will at least get you close. We made probably 20 runs on the dyno tweaking little things on the boost controller and it all pointed to signs that the engine isn't breathing well enough for more power. Also, the turbo is a bit small if I want any more. So everyone keep that in mind, I think I may be at about the limit of the stock engine as far as breathing capacity. I would like to try the NA intake cam (I think that is the one to use) to see if I could get a bit more, but I am sure the turbo would be limiting me then. If I were to do it again, I probably would have gone with the GT28RS or the S15 turbo, but since I got my GT28R for free, I couldn't pass it up.

thanks for the info man. there's a guy here willing to do the ECU reflashes and i'm seriously considering it over my s-afc 2.

is your intake piping 3.5" all the way to the turbo? i intend to have it broaden only near the end, so it looks alot like a tornado. i'm hoping that'll help maintain the right velocity, or is it more than that?

What did you search for on eBay to get the rom burner? I tried looking but to no avail!

How do you know which type of programmer to get? There are alot of choices there.

Look in description - must support 27256 (27C256) EPROMs.

For my intake I got a rubber reducer for PVC pipe from Lowes.

As for the programmer, I got one that will do up to a 64 pin chip or something like that and down to a 16 pin. But like he said, the description should tell you what chips work in it and make sure a 29C256 or 27C256 or 27C128 chip work.

Very impressive man, and your even in Utah. I'll have to come up and dyno my 240 when i get my S14 swap done.
