So he went in for his 5th warranty repair appointment (in only 8,000 miles).

I took him in for a clunking noise turning to the right, thinking it might be related to that V that crashed with a tie rod failure.

Nope.

Broken "torque rod".. I wasn't sure what that was, so I asked, and apparently it serves a function similar to that of a motor mount.

WTF?

Ok... add THAT to the list of different failures experienced so far in the V line.

Part won't come in until at least next Wednesday. They offered to let me drive him in the meantime, but honestly, at this point I get physically sick when I look at him. I'll drive the Tucson in the mean time, it seems indestructible compared to the Versa.

And I got clarification as to why the other dealership did nothing regarding the TSB on the TPMS. Though my car was manufactured in the correct date and VIN range, the BCM that was installed is NOT in the "affected" serial number range.

Great. So I have a wheel sensor that's dead, and because the jerkwads at the last dealership keep clearing the codes, we won't know which one until the NEXT time the system fails.

Be prepared for my next rant when I take him in for his SIXTH warranty failure.

Might this have been from the accident? I say this because I was once rear ended.(77 Chevy not a Versa!) The car was repaired and looked fine. Upon driving it home, I noticed that there was a scraping noise when I turned. It turned out that the mounting bolts on the right side of the transaxle were broken. The car went back a total of 3 times to fix overlooked damage.

If it was, it took a while to develop... it didn't start until a week after I got it back.

No matter, it's being covered under warranty anyway.

It's just annoying having the car out ANOTHER week.

We're kinda on the same level of frustration; I'm still waiting for my gauge cluster, my passenger air bag cover, and my driver's side rear view mirror to come in so that my dealership can schedule a date for me to bring the car in for service. They don't realize the consequences I would face if I were pulled over with faulty gauges, obviously, because they would have squeezed me an earlier appointment in.

I'm just leaving the damn thing there until it's fixed.

Many lessons being learned. The hard way.

I haven't been following your saga... but just an FYI...

I'm unsure how it is with Nissan, but with Toyota, I know that once you're without a car for 30 days b/c of repairs (doesn't have to be consecutively.. just within factory warranty), it's pretty much an automatic Lemon Law case. Jut make sure you keep all your paper work in case you have a lot more problems in the future.

That depends entirely on the regulations of the state you live in, not the manufacturer. But yes, five repairs under warranty and within the first 8000 miles may very well place in that category already..

Also, to be fair, it's possible the part may have been weakened from the accident. I know my sister had a huge accident with her 1 year old Honda Civic (she was struck by a hit & run driver) a couple of years back and the insurance paid 11K to FIX the damn thing.. She had problems a few issues that she had to get sorted out months after she got the car back from the body shop..

You know, I LOVE this car, but getting the dealer to fix things on it seems to be a MAJOR problem for most of us.

The Honda dealership not only gave my son a loaner, but DROVE his car back to him on THEIR time the 200 mile round trip. He didn't have to miss one minute of work or personal time.

I can't get my dealer to return phone calls.

Nope. It has to be at least 2 failures of the same system that either pose an immenant safety danger or a fire threat, or 4 failures of the same system that pose a minor safety risk or impair ability to drive the vehicle, or 30 total days in the repair shop for any of the above types of failures.

So far the closest I'm at is 2 TPMS failures. Need it to fail another 2 times, be fixed, and fail again for it to be called a lemon. I know it WILL fail at least one more time.
