80391-68u00 is the new part # for one of the above. Just forgot which
The part numbers for these "steel buttons".
They are a Japan only part. Discontinued in US. I have a few extra from a batch ordered last year. The glass is thicker on the 1994-1996 yes. Better sound proofing. Ideally they should fit just fine... that leaves the rear front and the 2 "3rd row" glass wouldnt improve a thing unless all are replaced I bet... finding a junkyard dog without rusted Steel buttons as well...
Clean up the tint... get new "steel buttons" and hit the glass with some LCR and polish them up... good to go. Replacing the glass seems like a waste
I will be taking off the tint and cleaning up the glass very soon - this weekend or before. It is so bubbled from sitting up in the heat that I have difficulty seeing out it at night.
Right now, I can snag the windows from a 1995 in salvage for under $30 each with untarnished - non-rusted buttons. The channel rubber is $8 each. I may still follow that path soon, don't want it to get away as they are not showing up with the frequency they did about 5 years ago. I'm fairly well versed in changing side glass and regulators from a prior '92 SE-R, a '94 Q45, my also current '02 Q45 and this '92 Q45 previously. It's a pain and the arms need protection from metal edges, but doable without great trepidation.
Thanks for the encouragement about the fit. I may take the channels just in case the original is any bit tight on the slighly thicker glass. I usually pull the channel, thoroughly clean and spray down and soak for a few days with "industrial" silicone lubricant before reinstalling window channels. Uncertain if it really helps, but OCD nature directs me so. Cleaning the channels does prevent a gritty sound when closing the window on old pieces.
