sup guys, all my friends have been telling me to race the subaru in my school lot; and i hate the fact that they keep bugging me everyday at school about it. Well im thinking about challenging him (for $$) to drag bc he wont road race. The wrx only has a blow off valve; think with my current mods i can take him?

what kind of tires? lol that can be very important

and if it's at a strip, then i'd suppose on slicks you COULD take him...13 psi and those mods should run you a mid 13...wrx's are good for low 14 it hink

from a Car vs Car standpoint regardless of driver, which car would you put your money on?

SR20DET @ 13 psi.

If he doesn't have an upgraded exhaust to help spool his turbo, and you do... forget about it. You'll own him if you can launch it. Heck, you could probably take it easy on the launch and blow by him by the time you're at the 2-3 shift.

thanks for your feedback guys , it really paints a clearer of what i should worry about ( if worry at all). o yeah, the wrx just has a bov and short shift kit, no exhaust or anything to help spool the turbo. Just a bov and short shift kit. And he claims to be the fastest in my school.

You may be able to unseat him.

Its not a sure thing you'll wint but WRX are hard to launch properly w/o beating up on the drivetrain too much.

Put on slicks.

I think you will win boosting at 13psi easily, you probably have a bit more whp than his crank hp.

i raced my friend's WRX awhile back w/ a clutch going out and just intake/header/exhaust on my ka24de and he only beat me only by around 1 car. Granted he is not the greatest driver but neither amI - the thing about WRXs is few can launch them right, if you get a semi decent launch and don't miss a gear, you will be fine. Show them what Nissan is all about. GL

If he can drive and is on good tires with those mods....you will prolly have you hands full...because if thats what he is telling you he has...chances are he has more. A WRX is a hard car not to mod....I would do it just to do it...cuz if you have asked him to run...then you best not back down.

If he has that maybe an even race.Make him commit to not having raised his boost in front of witnesses.

Also try to pick a track with a real grippy surface thatll make it hareder for him to launch smooth but easier for you.

You have a car thats easier to launch, a bigger engine and approx same boost levels.

Go for it.

The school lot doesnt sound like a real good venue to race. With your better power a full quarter sounds better.

wrx run 14 flat stock with a good driver. the BOV for a WRX dosnt do ANYTHING for him. is he boosting stock? he is going to beat you by far off the line. AWD>* for launch. i have a WRX right now and they are really quick but it would be a good race for you too

oops i didnt read the whole post. do you know if the exhaust is cat back or turbo back....thats where you get the most power out of the WRX is in the exhaust mods. turbo back is about 20-25 WHP right there..the other mods dont do to much for him

Thought he already had a short shifter?

I think you'd win if you're a decent driver. If you can't launch though he probably will win.
