ok first of all i have searched and looked at the fsm for my rb25det and still have not come up with my answer.any ways i was wondering what weight and how much how does the rb25det need.how much transmission fluid does it need and what weight. since i didnt seperate the transmission from the engine im guessing i shouldnt need to put fluid in the torque converter b/c when i put the engine in a little bit of fluid came out of the transmission but it was proably the rest of the transmission fluid.the only reason im asking these questions is in the factory ka manuel and yes i know its a rb not a ka but it says i need gear oil and transmission fluid for the transmission.anyways plz dont flame me and thanks in advance.

Wait, torque converter, do you have an auto transmission?

Auto transmission = automatic transmission fluid

Manual = gear oil

_______________

If your using a Auto transmission you should fill up the torque converter with fluid and then properly install it onto the transmission.

Afterwords you'll fill the transmission (once installed in the car) with automatic transimission fluid try about 4 quarts if completely empty. Start up the car and let the transmission warm up (this is usually after the engine has reached full operating temp). Check transmission fluid and add accordingly.

Now, if you have a manual transmission, your going to use gear oil. Synthetic or conventional is up to you. Usually depending on what climate your driving in the weight might differ. I believe your safe at a 70-90w or lighter. If you got the cash others use MT-90.

so you'll fill it up once the transmission is installed as well as the driveshaft in the tail of the transmission so it won't leak out, and your set dude.

engine oil is personal preference. can't go wrong with 10w30. I run 15w40 royal purple. some people use 20w50. I'm sure ther are reasons for it, but I don't know them. I read somewhere 10w30 was good for street driven turbos, and 15w40 for higher milage turbos. you need like 4.5 quarts. it IS in the FSM.

As for gear oil, I run royal purple max-gear 75-90w, and I love it. I had valvolene synth 80-90 in it for awhile, and it was pretty thick when cold, and was kinda loud, but the RP is so damn smooth, and no grinds anymore on my tired synchros. it runs alot quieter in my diff and transmission. the fsm says something like gl4 in the transmission and gl5 in the diff, but the RP meets both gl4 and 5 specs, so it's OK. you need a little over 3 bottles, so about 3.2 quarts. you could probably put in 2 bottle of the max gear, and then put in a bottle of their manual trans fluid, and it would lighten it up a bit. not trying to sell rp or anything, thats the best crap at the PX, and its pretty cheap. no one buys it, so it always goes on clearance for like 5-6 bones a quart!!! Tax free!
