Hey Nistech, I've a question for you about the pivots for the rocker arms. When I went to finally bleed em cuz of the loud ticking, I got everything back together after I bled them with a syringe and a bucket of motor oil, but the loud ticking's still there (not quite as loud though). I pulled all 8 dumped them in the bucket of motor oil, took the syringe and pumped oil through the little opening up at the top to flush out the old oil and air bubbles in them. Is that the proper way to bleed em? Also when I put them back in the motor, their levels were slowly dropping off, is there something I'm missing?

Also after I put back together the head, the lower rpm range is pretty rough now but when it kicks into the high band it's fine. Think the chain could have jumped one tooth or so? The timing was already rechecked and was perfect at 15 BTDC. What would the chain being off one or two links do to the motor?

cause a lack of power at the low end. if its off to many teeth it could tag a valve. When you blled your lifters you are suppose to dunk them in a bucket squeez them ,push the check ball in with a paper clip and release them till they draw in all the oil. [ I think, I havent done it quite some time] but it seems to me thats how I did it.

crap. I guess I double check the timing chain today or tomorrow. The lifters I pushed with a thin metal rod but it didn't seem to do anything to it. so I used the syringe. Is there alot of force needed to push the ball open or not much at all?

it usually doesnt take much, are you compressing the lifter when you place it in the oil? it helps purge the air.

whoa so I'm supposed to push the ball from the side? I pulled the lifter out, saw a hole on the side and one at the top, used a metal rod to push down from the top
