okay, i've been away for 2 weeks....time to stir the pot.i know Falk loves his IXs.I suspect most here have the laser plats.

anyone want to weigh in?

Wes, are you still selling plugs--i know you had supplier issues for a while.

clubplug has the IXs for SIGNIFICANTLY less [about half] the laser plats.....

There's a reason they're cheaper. Half the price, half the tips!

ok, thanks-then i'll have to use another source.

Robert, thanks for the tip on the bkr5eix-11 vs. ifr5e-11, and it was pleasure with the family. 2 weeks ago we were in key west. wouldn't have wanted to be there today....

so, anyone have experience with the ifr5e-11s? i don't feel the need to extend plug interval, just thinking the new technology might have some small benefit....

I don't know, but was just talking with an NGK Plug engineer. Maybe he can give some advice... I'll let you know what he says.

Robert--any insight from the factory man? I already ordered the double iridiums (IFR5E-11) Monday night. may not put 'em in right away, though.

of course, after i ordered them at $11.70, I found them at rockauto for over a buck less each.....

Did you check with Joe? If he stocks them, they should be the same price as the double plats--I thought they were at $8.50 each...or maybe that was a monthly special.

Just to make you feel better, our newish family addition [a C43 AMG has 16 spark plugs] and 16 wires that get changed every 60,000 miles.

Barely beats a new G35 6 speed......302HP/308 lb/ft........3490 pounds [5 speed AT].My son always has wanted a MB/AMG...........$139 oil dealer changes [8.5 quarts of synthetic]..........looking at all the previous warranty work reminds me of my 90Q in the 1st 50,000 miles. My friend, a cert MB tech, says it will cost a bundle to get to 200,000 miles......transmission, drive shaft, chains and guides, electronics, ac, body control modules SUSPENSION and BRAKES.

Sounds familiar!

Good for him, trying for you?

Just please don't leave us for the MB forums!

Plug wires? I guess sixteen coils would be too many.

8 coils with 2 outputs each. Here is the most interesting part:"Grabbed from the European-market E50 (another AMG-tuned car), the C43's brakes are vented internally and feature a 13.2-inch swept diameter for the front discs and an 11.8-inch swept diameter for the rear. To this impressive package, Mercedes adds their new Brake Assist technology that is designed to detect a panic situation by monitoring the movement of the brake pedal. This braking system, like the transmission, is driver adaptable and quickly learns a driver's braking habits, hopefully alleviating any unnecessary emergency stops. Mercedes claims that the Brake Assist-equipped C43 stops from 62 mph in 131 feet." [???? compared to a new G35 with the same pilot Sport tires].

Oh and the transmission is from the 6 liter V12, so that means $6,000 to replace.

My Q logic seems to have been lost on him as with others but the MB symbol on the hood and AMG on rear, should improve his standing amongst Nissan PU owners [his other and previous vehicle-----all paid for and just repainted with a bedliner]. Adding $800 to monthly expenses is not my idea of a good time.

I don't know having a "Q455" on the rear of mine hasn't done anything for my status.........maybe a NISMO decal.

Getting way way off topic for the mechanic section.
