I have a 1995 SE with those 16in rims. I have 205s right now and they seem to not hook very good. I want (at least in the rear) the biggest tires I can get, I like the way big tires look. My truck has 235s in the back with 14s. I get semi cheap tires because I just wear them out. So bigger is better. And when I'm saying big, i mean wide.

David.

if thats a 16x7 rim which it sounds like it is, you should be able to fit a 225 on there.

225/45s fit fine with little bulge. A 235 might go too, never tried it. OE wheel is 16x6.5.

I can give a rats *** if the tires look wider. I want them to be wider. Wider=better traction. more surface on the ground. I'm not just some ricer....

how about get some nice suspensions, like Tein, HKS, etc... don't think size makes that much different, infact S15 has smaller wheel space than S14

My truck hooked much better with 235s than with the stock 215s. I don't care about handleing right now. I just want it to be faster for straight line. I can't get expencive tires because I blew through 60,000k mile tires in about 7,000. I can't afford that. I need new tires so I might as well go with some wider ones.

I dunno I'd still save up the money and just buy Z or ZR rated tires, maybe alittle big larger if you want. And drive alittle more conservatively lol.My friend got some Sumitomo Z's on his 3rd gen eclipse *cost about $700 I think* and took an intire second off his 0-60 and 1/8 mile times over the stock tires.Oh, and they have a 70,000k mile warrenty. Trust me, you want better tires instead of cheap wider tires if you want more go

I try both 18x9.5 with 265ZR and 17x8.5 235ZR at rear, end it up I feel 17" faster.. just for your info

I just ordered some Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 - 225/45ZR/16

Do you think they'll fit fine? They're getting installed monday.

I hope they don't scape or anything.

Are the Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 good tires?

theyre 225/45/17 though, in my opinion they're pretty good bang for buck but theyre definately not the best tires around

Mine are like Ice skating right now anyway hehe.. But hopefully the track will be warm. Maybe I'll light em up a bit if it's super cold. I doubt it will help. I can't ever hook at all in the cold. But do you think they'll hook up better than 205 Eagle tires?

whats the widest you can go on the stock 15" rim for a 90 240 or the 15" alloy rims found on the 91+ SE's. Right now i have 205/50/15, i had upgraded from 195-60-15. Im thinking i can go as high as 215. Is it possible?

They'll fit on the rim, just try to see if it'll fit in the wheel well. Does it look like there is plenty of room with the 205s? I'd think 215 wouldnt be a problem..

205 is nothing, if i can fit 215 then i would be happy for a while, im still riding stock nosebleed height, so fender clearance isnt a problem.

I run 10.5 inch wide Mickey Thompson slicks on a stock S13 rim...

The tires fit. Just watch the height.

I wanted to get 245s, but everyone said they would not fit. :( I'll be pissed if they could have fit :) Maybe next time I guess.

so if my calculations are correct (they rarely are), 10.5" is about 265 in tire width?

10.5 will come out to about a 275 so you are closethe thing about slicks is that they will stand up taller on a thinner rim.

Same goes for other tires. Street tires just aren't as effective when they stand up in this way.

The biggest street tire you can put on a stock rim is a 235.

Sure would. But would come with a much higher price. I'll do both eventually. but i'm saving for an SR20DET right now. And i'm gonna get the LSD later...

he's right.the LSD will give you better traction, but do you have $400-$1500 to shell out right now?Tires might cost $300 at the most for a pair.

I got the tires. It hooks up REALLY good. I can launch at 4,000rpm and it hooks up all good. Before with my eagle 205s I could hardly drop at 2,500rpm. So i'm really impressed with it. Hopefully at the track it'll be doing good still.
