Post

Hello all,

I recently purchased a 1996 Nissan 240SX SE that has an RB25DET out of a 1993 R32 GTS-T in it. Right now it still has the stock T28 turbo in it, but I want to put a larger turbo in. I called a shop and they quoted me a "worst case scenario" price of $1200 - the worst case being if the flanges don't match up. But then I questioned engine management and if it would automatically run right after larger turbo installed and he said they send the cars out to have them tuned afterward. My question is: Does anyone know of a larger turbo that they know for sure the flanges WILL match up?The price he quoted me was for a Garrett GT42

Thank you for your time and concern

I don't have a rb motor, but i can tell you that its not a bolt up turbo.

You need to change everything. The downpipe flange, you'll need a t3 manifold, turbo inlet pipe won't fit, the gt42 has a 4 inch inlet i think. Then a coupler of sorts to attach to your intercooler plumbing.

Not the news I was hoping to hear, but I do appreciate your reply just the same. I suppose the guy was probably assuming that it WAS indeed a bolt on turbo when he quoted me that price, and it will prob cost substantially more. I guess I'll just get it tuned first then. There's a place in Fairfield, NJ that will give me what they call a "stock chipped ECU" for $800 installed. That should hold me over til I have the money to do the turbo job properly. Thanks again for your reply.

P.S. From what I hear, the KA24 isn't such a bad motor itself-is yours boosted?
