Slip,

Feel free to send an evaluation model to me and I'll try it out on the Q

Honestly, it would be great for someone to check it out on a Q45 to see how it performs before Wes puts a group buy together. Do you have any pics (or just an ebay item number) so that we can see it?

Thanks!

Heath

Unfortunately I can not vouch for anything above a 1995 Q45, and I'm not sure if this [customer's car] was a 1/2 year model or not. Anyways, this was verified on a 1995 Q45, so your 1994 will certainly work.

Generally all early-mid 90's Nissans/Infiniti's will work. I even used it on a neighbors Quest mini-van. Support on the 240sx's cuts out around 1996.5 and up BTW.

I was awaiting a response from Wes before I mentioned pricing: let me see how many buyers we can line up and we'll go from there.

Wes: I'll be on the lookout for an email this evening.

Heath, Haha, funny guy. Your Q is a 1990? Nissan didn't adapt the CONSULT-I on the 240sx untill 1991, so I'm not too sure on yours. It may use the old 'checker-box' style diagnostics. I perfectly understand your concerns before getting group buys together. If you are serious, I can sell you one deeply discounted for the sake of our forum members.

You can check out all the info at: http://consult.hackthebox.org

Not the greatest pic, but there's more on the website.

Also I should mention: please escuse my general lack of knowledge about Infiniti's: it *will* be my next car.

PS - that application list on the website is a bit outdated, so you'll notice the Q45 and Quest aren't on it.

Do you know if any of your customers tried to check the ACTIVE suspension on the Q45?

The 1990 Q45 absolutely uses Consult 1. The 90-95 Q45 is OBD1, with a changeover to OBDII in 1996. I spent a great deal of time testing the DIY serial board, and didn't ever get it up and running. It looks like Wes has something in the works so we'll see how it interacts with the Q.

Thanks!

Ok well I'm pleased to hear that it will work on a 1990. I'm confident this will work on all the CONSULT-I years, no doubt. The kicker(as Wes mentioned) is finding software to do the active suspension and ABS functions. I have only ever worked with the engine parameters over CONSULT, and since my car isn't ABS I suppose I never had a need for it. That being said, this board is *the* interface for all of those diagnostic functions. If you look at the electrical schematic for a Q45, you'll see the CONSULT communications lines are shared with devices on the car other than the ECU.

We'll compile all the nitty-gritty details in a seperate thread, so stay tuned.

Thanks to Wes for supporting me: I think we're going to have a great package for you folks.

Cheers,Jamie

Sorry man! Ill tell you what happened. I got the consult on friday, however I didnt get to the mailroom in time, and the mailroom isnt open on weekends. I checked my mail at noon and it wasnt there, but it showed up sometime between 1230 and 4pm.... my excuse for not being on time is a 20minute "fun drive" in the Q turned into a 2 hour drive.... with gas at $1.99 a gallon it was too tempting!!!! sigh! Ill be getting consults this week!

just as an update, i have 2 consults sitting on my desk neither of which currently operate... The one I recieved to test for this GB seems like it should work but i dont have the correct software I dont think. Its really hard to test this stuff because I dont have a laptop of my own. Too bad they dont make 500ft USB cables then I oculd use it from my PC in my room!

Which software are you trying? There are two or three available as free downloads on the web. I can't remember which one I got to sort of work on the kit with the serial output. I know it was a trial version that would give you some functionality and more if you paid $30?

If you want me to try it I have a laptop ready to roll
