Has anyone thought about entering any of these type events? Obviously the Gumball 3000 is way too expensive, however the AKA Rallyhttp://www.akarally.com and the One Lap of America http://www.onelapofamerica.com are much more reasonable cost wise (3k and 2500 respectively).

Several friends and I have talked about entering for years. I wonder if anyone has thought about a Nissan event of this type. Or dare I say it a Convertible event...

Anyone have thoughts? I would rather do an event like that even with the travels and so on than go to NOPI.

Definitely on my "to do" list - Always been too busy to do it so far, but perhaps as the kids get older...

I'd love to do One Lap in the 'vert when it's finished.

I really wanted to run the Silver State Classic in the Q... maybe I'll run it in the Coupe someday.

what is the Silver State Classic?

I was just thinking that some sort of Nissan trek would be cool.

My best friend and I have both put the One Lap on our to do list before turning 35.

I believe the silver state classic is that top speed run in the nevada desert where that mega HP orange Z from top secret (I think they were the shop) crashed the past couple tries. they close down a long stretch of public road and let people go balls out on it. But you have to have mega safety equipment to get into the higher classes from what I've read. Ditto the one lap of america don't they stop at all those tracks along the way? I'm pretty sure verts would need bars there since they hold competitive race events at each venue but I dont know for sure.

Wouldn't that piss some people off.. Dudes spending 100k+ on their exotics and they get owned by an S13 (highly modified of course).

I freaked when I saw how expensive those events are to enter... until I read a little more and found out that the cost is inclusive of lodging, event entry, etc... Then you just pay for gas and food along the way and it's really not so bad.

well just so you know there have been multiple skylines entered in the gumball and one lap and most of the other events and they are either too mildly tuned to be competitive or too aggressively tuned to make it through the event. Some guy in chicago (an RI) has entered a skyline GTR in the one lap event at least 3 or 4 of the past 5 years and its blown up everytime I believe. I read about it somewhere. You gotta remember that going into this event you are going against hotshoe drivers in cars like vipers and ferraris and lamborghinis that are also modified above and beyond stock... and then remember that sport compact car's ultimate street car shootout a couple years ago featured basically a stock ferrari 360 which beat out some incredibly modified and powerful cars.

im not planning on running top class, id like to run the "unlimited mods, price under $35,000" class in one lap, probably 125 mph for silver state, and ive got to decide still with targa and the others

i have no intention of blowing up

Honestly I don't think I would have intentions of entering the competition for the purposes of winning, but much more for the experience. Not everyone who enters these events is running to win. :-)

yeah, one of those rallies is something i'd like to try someday. i've put quite a bit of thought into some engine setups that might be able to handle the abuse of such a demanding event. i'd definately want to make the run in a dsm or a 240.
