Just last night, my lap belt stopped retracting--in my '93 240sx. So now, there's all this slack on the lap belt and I'd have to tie it in a knot so it's shorter. Anybody have any idea how to fix this problem?

You are probably going to need a new belt assembly. There is a little cylinder type of thing that it feeds from and when the belt is let go it winds it back up. The cylinder has probably failed. Only other thing I can tell you is to open up the area where it goes into and see if anything is obstructing it from retracting. If not you are going to need a new belt assembly.
