LOL !!!!!!! Are you kidding me...? I'd go and slap the dealer in the face...the LDW is located in the bottom of the front bumper...at least that's where it's been on my last 2 Infinitis...I do not have it on my 08 as I never used it anyway and didn't want the box "hole" in my front lower grill...runis wrote:The LDW on my recently purchased 06 M45 was not working...took it to dealer and they said the cause was due to a non-factory windshield being installed.
Anyone heard of this? I can see if it was really poor quality/hazy glass but it looks good visually. Is there something special required by the LDW system? Any Nissan/Infiniti techs on here?
The sensor for this system is near the grille ... I seriously doubt that the windshield has anything to do with LDW problems.runis wrote:The LDW on my recently purchased 06 M45 was not working...took it to dealer and they said the cause was due to a non-factory windshield being installed.
Okay, I stand corrected. I confused the LDW with the ACC sensor!patrolia1 wrote:The LDW unit is located inside the windshield and it looks out through it. If you look up by the rear view mirror from the outside you can see what looks like a camera lens. That is it. If it is obstructed up there by an aftermarket windshield it could do that. There is nothing on the bumber pertaining to that.
It's possible that you were given a windshield without the LDW window. It's up near the mirror, and perhaps your new windshield is blacked out in that area. Viewing the car from the outside, look for something that looks like a camera lens mounted near your rear view mirror.runis wrote:The LDW on my recently purchased 06 M45 was not working...took it to dealer and they said the cause was due to a non-factory windshield being installed.

I would imagine that this would have an impact on your intelligent cruise control as well (distance control) if you have this feature.runis wrote:So here's the deal. As some of you mentioned...the LDW camera is in fact at the top of the windshield, behind the rear view mirror. The factory windshield has a gap in the blue tint at the top of the windshield for the camera to see through. It appears someone replaced the windshield on mine with an aftermarket version...thus no gap in tint...thus camera can't see the road.
As exbmwdude pointed out...this appears to be a rather annoying feature so I opted to not swap out the windshield at my cost to solve the problem. Cost of new winsdhield....are you sitting down....$1,700 installed
Thanks all for your help.
I agree, that thing is annoying... and if you got the wrong winshield the LDW will def not work.exbmwdude wrote:You mean you didn't disable this the first day you bought the car like me ? It's easily the most annoying feature I've ever seen...

If you use a turn signal when changing lanes (unlike your average bmw owner) the system would not work.exbmwdude wrote:You mean you didn't disable this the first day you bought the car like me ? It's easily the most annoying feature I've ever seen...
Yep, and they wasted their one and only "first post" to give some completely wrong info about the ACC being in the windshield.a.blanco0905 wrote:Lol, didnt even catch that... but obviously somebody brought it up from the grave.
I dont know what it is, but it's like some people open up an account and post some crazy shyt and then they're gone and never come back, like that guy with the Ipod hook up near the shift lever...FNAWSM wrote:Yep, and they wasted their one and only "first post" to give some completely wrong info about the ACC being in the windshield.

What year are you driving that has a HUD? In the 06, there is a light on the dash that lights up when the sound is going. Unfortunately, I haven't heard of any way to adjust the volume...BlinG* wrote:even though this is a little off topic...
is there a way to increase the sound of the LDW beep? If i am listening to music and have the LDW on i cannot even hear it, and there is no notification on the HUD showing it either.
So what's up with the light? You have it or you dont??BlinG* wrote:I was referring to the flashing light you are describing.
