['97 i30 rookie]

Can anyone refer me to a knowledgeable/reputable mechanic who has worked on your infiniti? (Within a 50 mi. radius) I just bought a used '97 i30 w/ 102K. I prefer to not go to the Infiniti/Nissan dealerships. I thought my mechanic would work on it, but he doesn't want to touch it.

Your mechanic is not very good then, why would he he afraid of the mechanicals of an I30 when the engine is the famousVQ30 found on many other Cars to include the ubiqitous 95-99 Maxima.

How far is Lafayette ffrom Louisville?St Mathews Imports has a great rep.

If you ahve something major it might be worth the drive I just remembered that our member forecast, who is a gifted mechanic lives here and is willing to do things for a litlle $$.

The thing is, I don't know if the chain was replaced at 80k and how much of a bear is it to find out. Also, the TSB for the alternator/generator prob - I don't know if that was taken care of and since I'm the 2nd owner would it still be covered? (Like my name says, I'm a rookie and I don't want to get "rooked".)

There is a good place in indianaoplis-- Dreyer and Reinbold. You may check there, Ive never been down there, but the previous owner of my car did and was apparently satisfied.
