Lack of Traffic on the FX Owners Site?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

In March I traded my EX35 for a FX50S. I had a 2003 FX35 so I was used to the size and performance of it when I traded it for the EX in March of 2009. The reason I traded the EX was the back seat room, which has come up many times in this forum, I loved everything about it otherwise.
The FX50S is unbelievable in performance, options, etc. What is interesting is the lack of posting on the FX site, maybe 2 or 3 a week. I am wondering why there is such minimal activity when the FX has been out for 8 years or so? Seems FX owners dont have much to talk about?
Also, the model pull down list doesnt even show a FX link?

You have wheat interior on an FX50s huh? I didn't know that was an option.

Traffic sucks round those parts, but the IS guys tend to be what Driver is to G forums. There are a few other Infiniti forums out there but they have even less traffic.

Yes, Wheat with a dark brown dash. This ride has virtually everything Infinity has for options. I had to put a sticky note on my dash to figure out what all the acronyms mean for the push button switches. LDW, FCW, ICC, LDP, IDA, VDC, AFS ets.

There is a bit of a learning curve with the FX50. Many dealer employees don't know all the options specific to the FX50S, just because there are only a few of them out there. The acronyms are similar but the mean very different things.

Congrats on a very limited vehicle. I hope to get my hands on one someday. Your username is well deserved.

I hope you stick around, ,

Steve, my user name comes from my boat on Lake Lanier. A 24' Python with a 502 V-8, thru hull exhaust, etc.
Ya, I am going to stick around here but the iS board is pretty good. Too bad there wasnt a Tech like you on it?
My son has a Trailblazer SS with a down graded Corvett engine. 0 - 60 is 6 seconds while the FX50S is 5 seconds even though the FX weights 900 pounds more? I would arrtibute this to the FX's 7 speed transmission.

That sounds like the perfect lake boat. Nothing like the rumble of a big block. The only thing that sounds better is WOT in a bbc. Although the more I think about it a lumpy idle is also a great note.
My bucket list contains a house in FL on a canal, and a very similar toy.

I like the Trailblazer SS (theoretically). Although the TB is not the greatest truck/vehicle to start with everything is better with wheels and an oversized engine makes everything better. Now I must say that I have always been a Pontiac fan, GTP,GXP, ect, but I am irreparably spoiled by Infiniti. I think if that type of truck were to be green lighted by my accountant I would be looking at SRT-8 Grand Cherokee, but they kind of suck as vehicles worse than anything Chevy has/had. I think I would end up with a Titan at the end of the day.

You have happens when you actually set out to make a fast suv. The FX50 has amazingly linear acceleration due to the RE7 and the VVEL technology to adjust the lift and duration of the intake cam. The timing on the exhaust cam is adjustable as well. The amount of lift and duration are continuously variable. It is a shame they made the 50 so quiet.
For more info on VVEL- http://www.nissan-global.com/EN/DOCUMEN ... VEL_EN.pdf

The bottom of this page has some of the tech offerings from your FX.
http://www.nissan-global.com/EN/TECHNOLOGY/LIBRARY/

iS is a decent place for pics and common queries but their tech info is weak.
If you have any questions feel free to PM me or email me.

Put the FX Series in your car specific pull down list and get a tech contributor on it like Mr. Steve

"Car specific" are simple portals that were built to help people find the forums which are the important part of the community. I would have thought having more detailed information within the forum itself would be more important. As far as tech contributors, people like Steve are volunteers like the rest of us and if he chooses to help out more in the FX forums that would be great. Unfortunately, finding people like Steve who are willing to spend time online, as well as working on cars all day, is quite difficult.

If a portal is that important to the community then I can probably whip something up. What would be more valuable, FX35, FX45 or FX50 domain?

Bunch them all together under just "FX". Being that I graduated from college with a slide rule It took me some time to even find a "FX" section at this site when the pull down list didnt show any. I guess you have to use the KISS principle for older folks like me (LOL)

Go sell more new FXs.

Gofast and Rontech are the only two fx50 owners I have spoken with recently.
The EX forum is closer to the new FX than the old FX was.
The people buying an 03 used FX are not the same people buying or researching a new purchase like the an 09+ FX.
I have seen this allot recently with the new M37 & M56 over in that forum. There just isn't enough traffic for separate model year specific forums. The G forum works well with a broad base of owners, through several models and years.

I'm all for KISS as I'm the one who has to build and maintain the domains. It would be up to the site owner to decide if he wants to buy another FX domain at this point. The pull down list is a list of NICO-built vehicle portals whereas the "Car Specific Links" section on the right, which has FX listed, is for the forums on this board.

Unfortunately I have nothing to do with sales :)

The difference from a M and FX perspective here is probably an active moderator. Z does a great job in the M section and we've never had a FX owner step-up or stand out that I've seen.

Fortunately I have nothing to do with sales either. I need a little more job security.

I agree the moderator makes the forum. I guess this is the neglected step child of the Infiniti forums here.

We haven't found the right member yet, I guess.

I did bring this to Greg's attention so we will see what can be done.

Have the site owner go to the iS site and look at the FX traffic? Also, I should have said "Car Specific Sites" pull down list and not the "car specific links, sorry.

iS itself is not that busy when you take away the OT threads and FS stuff. Sure, compared to this particular FX forum within NICO there is a difference. Compared to cross-platform information, projects, tech support, etc. that NICO provides, iS is really no comparison should the member widen their view outside of the FX forum itself. What we need are a few people to start being more active and a forum Moderator at some point. We have had a few "wastelands" over the years on NICO and have grown a couple of them to be the largest communities of their type. FX is one forum where we need to spend some "focus" time.

Any help you can provide to other FX members, please do so. :)

^ I'm with him.

Nico is the only car forum I participate in for a reason. There is a loyal group here, although not strong in some areas we are trying to make it the best it can be.

I just re-discovered this Thread... and I want to introduce myself as the Moderator of the EX35 Forum.

:wavey:

With respect to the Topic, might the cost-difference be a major factor also in the number of Owners/NICO Members? I see a lot more EX35's around, despite the fact that they have only been around for a few years.

In my City, FX's go for $10,000.00 more than the EX's do. Image

I see many more FX's (usually the older body style) in my area than EX's.

Same here. I never even knew the EX existed until I went to the dealer to look at the FX. I have always loved the FX (although I liked the older styles better). I test drove an FX and then just for grins I asked to drive the EX. I thought it drove and handled much better then the FX. A little more cramped yes but my kids are grown up and out of the house and I wasn't looking for a big vehicle. Plus the little extra space was not worth an additional $10,000. I will say that now that I'm an EX owner I'm starting to notice them more on the road but still not nearly as much as the FX.
