I want to put a Labtop in my car okay... So here are my questions.

Where can I find a bracket or something that can hold my labtop up? Or do I have to do this mysellf?

How am I supposed to get power to my labtop? Power inverter - depending on how many watts my labtop needs correct?

And would I have to keep turning on and off my labtop when I'm turning off the car, so it doesn't drain all my battery power?

Oh and one last one, where can I find good quality speakers/subs to connect to my labtop that I can wire around and put in place of my car speakers/subs?

Thanks!

yeah an inverter should do just fine, just get one thats a little bigger than your draw. you could also see if your laptop manufacturer makes a cig lighter to laptop adapter, so you dont have to bother with the dc->ac->dc stuff.

just set it to hibernate within 5 minutes of non-use in battery mode. you can run the inverter thru a switched relay and it'll be on only when the ign is on.

any good quality speakers and subs for laptops are usually ac and fairly hefty. youll have better luck running the audio output into your head unit aux channel if you have one.

What if I don't have an aux? Don't they have just some good quality speakers for PC's? I'm not looking to boom up the whole neighborhood or anything, I just want like 600 watt subs, and like 200 watt speakers with good quality.

And what do other people use for audio output?

And would I be able to somehow hook up regular car speakers/subs to my computer for an output? How would I go about doing that?

Your laptop is gonna need one kicka$$ sound card!! You can probably run RCAs from your sound card to a car amp and power your car's exsisting speakers that way. I'd take it to and audio shop and ask for advice

you need something to power those speakers/subs, and a laptop is sure as hell not gonna do it. the best way to do this is pick up a head unit with an aux input, then run a normal car system. if you want to be fantastically ghetto and rig up a reciever in your car, and add a powered sub, all off your inverter, be my quest. youll need a much beefier inverter to do so as well.

I don't get it...

So if I get a head unit with an aux input, what do I do from there? What plugs go where? Then would I be able to hook up my speakers to my laptop?

Thanks.

Yeah - the Aux input is for outside source audio I belive, you'll need a pretty high end sound card.

you can plug in a friggin walkman into the aux input and it will work. no need for HIGH END BS.I would suggest ditching the laptop as they are petty FUGLY compared to other installs that can be acomplished with an ITX system.ITX board is only 17cmx17cm wich is about 7in square. you can get power from a small power adapter PW-70 to power the board and cd-rw/dvd. onboard almost everything.check out http://www.mp3car.com for more info.7or8in touchscreen is only 350bux.they even have mediaengine, which has very nice interface http://www.mediaengine.com or somehting like that.stealth install is better than FUgly laptop.

Isn't custom fitting going to be a pain?
