Ok, so I know labor costs vary from shop to shop but I was wondering how much labor would cost to Swap an SR20DET S13 Redtop into a '91 automatic 240sx. I don't require enough of the mechanical know how to do this myself and i was just wondering if any of you had any idea. If you don't then maybe you know from experiences or something.. just let me know.

Thanks, I'm new here,Dave.

I have heard most shops will do the engine swap for somewhere between $800 to $1000. The clutch assembly would be another $300 maybe. This is labor only, parts are extra

hmm, you'll prob get better answers if u goto the regional forums... NY is a tad of a ripoff in terms of your state's labor rates...

or let your fingers do the walkin' & dial local garages...

oh, edit... but you're swapping in an "illegal-in-the-usa" engine... so venture out to the specialty shops or gather up some niconauts in the area to help you out...

you're in NY, go to Heavy Throttle. that's a no brainer. They're in NY and are one of the authorities on the SR swap and sell clean working engines. They've built an excellent reputation with the community and have outstanding credibility. take it there. all their prices are listed online.

My brother had his done at Heavy Throttle over a year ago. He just chose to since he had a LOT of work to do at school. He had his auto swapped, and sr blacktop and tuned to put down about 230 rwhp....It cost him a good 7,000 , so it was a HUGE rip off for somethign that took my brother and I only two weeks to do last summer in a good friend's garage, lol (not to mention about 5k cheaper). If you don't have any mechanical know-how, don't fret too much. Jeff is a cool guy and should give you a low down if you REALLY are set on having someone else do the swap. He shut down Heavy Throttle in January or Febuary for his new shop, Built Performance, since he wasn't getting a lot of business through the old shop. Since then, his new shop upped the price of an at to m from 300 to 1,000 I believe. Don't expect his new prices to be cheap at all, but he really is a cool guy and knows his stuff. The BEST BEST BEST thing you could do is just wait a year, get to know your car, research the hell out of these forums, fsms, etc. You'll save yourself THOUSANDS. If you have any questions just im me. My aim sn is boznuttz,
