I have a friend who has a 240z and is wanting to get some low compression pistons and i was wondering where he could get some. What would be the right size of turbo for this motor and just basically how to make a bad *** L28. What year did the P90 come on the 280's?

81-83 turbos only had P90. Lots of people say the P79 is just as good (81-83 non-turobs i.e. EVERYWHERE )Low compression will come from either L28 turbo pistons or L28 dished pistons for 7.38:1. L28 Flat Tops (N/A) will give you a still low 8.28:1 compression

your best bet is to find a donor 81-83 280zx turbo, take the engine, harness, ecu and if it's a 5 speed car take the tranny, i have bought 2 zxt'S for $350 each, both were auto's one had bad rings and turbo but all the other parts are well worth it, beyond that if he wants more than 400whp he'll need forged pistons, the turbo fuel injectors, fuel pump and ecu give up around 300whp

that is certainly a big step up from where he is at right now. he just put down like 150 and 160 torque at the wheels not to long ago.

the stock L28ET is only rated for 180 hp and 190 lbft, at the crank! but for the time energy and cost of turbocharging the L24 it is easier faster and cheaper just to find a donor L28ET, and when he is ready for more power he can up the boost and fuel pressure and when thats not enough he can add the I/C bigger turbo etc
