There is so much in between those motors its not funny.

both engines are 86mmx86mm.

The SR is a high reving free breathing engine. It NA form making around 140hp and kinda low on the torque.

The L has an old non cross flow head design. It makes pretty good torque.

I feel that trucks need to be torquey. If you have to do an engine swap I would do the KA. And if you have to have a turbo I would still do a KA. They are really cheap say in the 400 to 500 range for a runner. Then maybe spend 2k or so for a nice turbo setup. Its still cheaper than a SR20DET.

The L's are a lot of fun to work on. They are really simple and there are tons of parts swapping going on. The KA heads even bolt on to them. The SR is also very similar in block design to both.
