There are L-shaped decals on the lower/rear part of the rear passenger doors on my hatchback, both sides. They are about 6- inches long and the same color as the paint (white). Are they supposed to be there? I am thinking they could be leftovers from the paint guard film they apply at the factory. Has anyone noticed this before?

I have had my V for about 3 weeks now and just noticed them today when I gave it a bath. It has snowed a few times since I took delivery and the car has been covered in salt since day one. So I did not notice it until now.

Thanks

I remember these being discussed here way back in the dawn 'o time (e.g., a year or more ago), but couldn't find it on a quick search. IIRC, they're basically on the part of the door most prone to rock chips and help protect the paint.

trust me, don't peel them off. They should also be clear.

These are there to prevent chips from rocks that fly up from the road. I know it seems odd that they're so small and in that particular spot, but for whatever reason that area is just prone to damage from rocks.

They're glued in place with some crazy adhesive... I wouldn't try to remove them if I were you.

As discovered from wind tunnel testing.

Whoops, guess I should have searched this topic when we bought our Versa...'cause I ripped them off about 3 months after we got it. I figured they were put on there during shipping and just didn't get taken off before we bought it.

Ours were very visible because dirt had gotten into the very edges of the stickers and was very apparent on the white paint. The one on the driver's side was peeling a little, so I just gave it a tug when I was washing it. My hands were soapy, and I almost went flying backwards when it came loose - but it wasn't welded on there by any means.

Anyway - hope we don't have any issues with the paint on that tiny little patch...wind tunnel testing or no, that's a tiny area to protect.

Thanks for the help everyone.

I have not seen these on a car before. We will see how long they last.
