L shaped body color sticker on rear doors

does anybody have a clue why there is a L shaped sticker or something to that efect on the bottom of the rear doors of the versa? it is the same color as the car.

If I recall, we came to the conclusion that they help keep the metal in that area from being pitted by sand and gravel as you're driving, slowing down rust in that area.

thanx!i was just wondering if it was something left over from production line that was not removed looks like there is going to be alot of dirt build up around the edges of it.just hope it does not start peeling off and looking like crap in a few years or few miles!

Yes, it was determined that it was a rock chip guard of sorts to protect that back corner piece. It does collect a lot of dirt around the edges. Just take a damp sponge or towels and rub it off. So far mine doesn't look like it's going to peel up.

I have these on my '08 SL and they are clear. Dealer didn't even know what they were for. I don't either.

i is so the paint doesnt chip, that part of the body curves out, therefor is able to catch rocks from the front tires.

and of course the only rock chip i have on mine now is about 1 cm in front of that sticker Oh the irony
