Hello everyone, I dont post here much in the datsun forum but ill be doing so more in the future.

I am looking for an EFI plenum L series intake manifold to fit on an L16. Does anyone know if any l18 or l20 ever came with this intake manifold in the US? As far as i have gathered, this may be a jdm only item. I have considered chopping down a l28 efi manifold, although matching it together will be quite a lot of work.

I am very interested in anyones thoughts on this manifold, where i could find one? I am looking to do a simple and clean efi "retro-fit" system on my 1972 datsun 510, using all nissan components. Planning to transfer full 1990 eccs 240sx efi system (harness, ecu, distributor, etc.) with a modified and talored ecu to work with the l16 power.

Might as well post a picture of the old girl, 1972 datsun 510 4dr, 28k original miles. Cruised it around town a few times after slapping a weber 32/36 on it, stock l16 carburetor was all gummed.

Watch eRip (sorry, I meant 'eBay')There was one listed there about 3 weeks ago, and they do pop up now & then.

Expensive alternative:Side draft type manifold & the FI throttle bodies meant to replace the Weber/Mikuni type manifold made by people like SK, HKS, TMW (or is that TWM?).

Less costly alternative:Side draft manifold with fabricated plennum chamber welded on.Mount a 240SX TB on the front end, and weld injector bungs into the runners.

If any of the alternates spark your interrests, I have the weld-on injector mounts, and I also have some SK throttle bodies, some new, and a used one on the way.

Ive run across some of those options, such as the dcoe type manifolds with individual throttles or custom plenum. Im really just searching for a one peice cast plenum unit, as this is a temporary side project.

I have an engine slated to go in this car (non l16,l18,l20) with individual throttle bodies already, the l16 isnt going to see itb.

I may end up just keeping the ol carburetor on this l untill i drop in the special twin cam, just thinking out loud.

Oh and hey, I recognize those SK's!! I dont know if it was you, or the person you got them from, but they were advertised on race-cars.com classifieds. I emailed a while back asking about them, only real reason i wasnt interested was due to my preference of fuel rail setup. I am still interested in these really, if you get some other sets or used ones in let me know, id be interested in 2, or maybe 4 of them.

Thanks for your reply man

Here's some efi install info in to 510 using a 200sx wiring harness. I know u asked for info on the IM but i can't seem to find the info i had on custom fuel injection setups. http://fiveoneoh.com/tech/roper_200sxefi.htm.Check out http://dimequarterly.tierranet.com/ classified section from time to time as well for IM and info on em.

Im pretty much set on using the nissan eccs 1990 setup that i have now. Real time tuning and display, etc.. I used to run it in my 240sx before i switched to map sensor ecu for itb. I really like the oem system only drawback it had was maf sensor. Id like to run my l16 for a while, will be a slick setup.

Anyone chopped down and refabbed a manifold using the l28 efi manifold? or know of any pictures? Ive heard of it being done before although ive looked at the manifold and its going to take some serious fabwork to make decent.

Not seen that, but have been considering it (chopping an L6 manifold).I have been seeing L6 manifolds in Japan that take a Hatachi 4 barrel carb.

The interesting part is that the runners to cylinders 1+2 and 5+6 have individual runners. Would make a nice L4 manifold.

A FI manifold would work also, you would just have to be careful on the cut, and then bolt it to a head when it is welded back together to avoid getting the pieces misalligned.
