true, the difference between the vlsd and clutch type is like the difference between the open diff and the vlsd. Drastic.

I will say that vlsd is very well designed and is an impressive performer.

I cut a 1.448 60 ft time on a 300zx vlsd.

Clutch type lsds are way better than lsd that come on a stock oem nissan such as the vlsd which are helical.the reason for this is because a 2 way clutch type, is engaged at all times such as in acceleration and deceleration for optimum traction.

viscous limited slip differential is NOT a helical type differential

i daily drive the 2way w/o any problems

the thing is is that if you do daily drive it, the instructions in the manual say you have to change the oil every 1800 km or so

if you dont ride the clutch when making a tight turn the car will jerk around

s15 Nissan silvia/200sx came out with a Torsen helical LSD its a bolt up conversion for the S14 and all reviews say its alot better than the previous Viscous LSD. Its a common and cheap conversion here in New Zealand compared to buying a Nismo or similar 2-way. Can get one here for around $300 USD compared to $1500 USD for a 2 way.If your not going to track race or drift your car Ican't see any point in going for a 2 way LSD!Check out the reviews section of http://www.nissansilvia.co.nz
