[font="georgia"]Well any motor swap is possible. In your case youd probably have to make new motor mounts to mate to the L series ones along with a new tranny mount as well. The wiring shouldnt be too hard, Datsun harness's are very basic. A new driveshaft would probably have to be made too because the L series tranny is longer than the one used in the NL's.

I think I am going to change my plans, I dont want to do fabrication I want a bolt in installation. The truck has the original trans w/shifter on the column. It is my understanding that the original engine was an E1, I also beleive that a J13 or J15 will bolt in is this correct?

Thanks

A J13/15/16 or even J18 (if you could find one) will bolt in as long as you use the E1 motor mounts.   If you want to retain the column shift trans, you'll need to use the E1 flywheel, mounting plate, starter, etc.  I presently have a J16 in my 320 but I have a later model 5 speed.  I did have a J15 with the stock column shift in it before I did the present conversion.

Has any used a J15 forklift motor? I thought I had read somewhere someone had. Remanufactured Forklift J15 are available does anyone know what is required or if it possible to use one?

Thanks

From what I understand a J15 forlift motor is the same as any other J15.  You would need to use the mounting components from your E1 to install it in your 320.

Bump!

So has anybody done this swap ?  I plan on putting the l16 in mine but it looks like it's going to be close. Especially with the 521 radiator. Also , the dual su's on the engine look like they might hit the steering shaft.

The dual SUs would be a problem.  I was going to the put the dual MG SUs on my 320 but ran into the same problem and ended up using the single Weber 40DCOE.
