I had a set of the KYB GR2 struts in stalled little over 2 months ago. My mechanic said that there will be some knocking on the front struts because they were new. The left front stunt is normal no noise. The right front however still knocks like crazy under 40 M.P.H. I t also started to squeak on the highway at one point but now that noise went away. It sounds like something is seriously loose but the performance hasn't changed at at. Anybody had this problem before???? Maybe the Nuts are not torqued enough....if so does anyone know what the torque specs are for the strut mounts and the strut itself?? Thanks

Did you replace the strut bearings as well? Most knocking isn't your strut, it's the bearing.

Yes they replaced both....the left side was making noise as well in the beginning but i guess it broke in and now is fine....I'm thinking maybe something got loose on the right side???The truck is not sagging or anything like that just a loud clunking/knocking that i can sometime feel of the gas pedal if the bump is big enough

I'm not aware of any knocking that should occur with new struts. Sounds kind of weird to me.

If you do not have the ac coils, then it should not knock. If they changed the strut bearings and installed the ones from KYB, then they might have failed you already. Do not wait and have your strut checked and dismantled. Have a look at the strut bearing... if that's not the problem, then your strut nut might have started to strip, or your 3 bolts holding the strut in the tower are either slack or started to strip... in any case, you need to have this checked before you get stuck somewhere on the road with a ripped strut...

If you do not know if OEM Nissan strut bearing were installed, I would go buy these right away and have the other changed while they are dismantled...

I read on the forum about the strut bearings. I went to the dealer and bought them and had him put them in instead of the ones that came with the struts from KYB. I also changed the springs but used OME all around. Something has got to be up with it cause the left strut works fine. Theres no noise from it at all...Is it possible the strut itself is defective???

Sounds like the shock within the strut has busted and no dampening is happening that is why you hear banging. Tear them out check them and if no good replace them...under warranty.
