Are you nuts? KYB aftermarket crap? I guess since they make the OEM ones that come in the car to BEGIN with, they're crap too? Who would be better qualified to manufacture an aftermarket shock / strut than the OEM supplier? Can't imagine that myself. It's easy to understand that you might not have known that Nissan choose KYB to supply the shocks that come stock on Y33 Q45's, as I don't have a clue who makes them on the G50 or F50 so that's understandable, but don't be so quick to call something crap, when it's clearly not.
I LOVE the way my car rides with the Tein / KYB SR combo, it's plush on the highway and tight in the canyons. It's definitely a firm ride, but it really works well together.
And Louis is exactly right on the coilovers. If you buy ones that don't need cores, expect to pay $2500 and then pay the ~$250 shipping for them. The Tein's and KYB's are a comparative bargain.
LOL I was quite drunk when I posted that... so excuse me for calling KYB crap... they certinally are not. However, at the same time you figure you'll have $1,200ish into the KYB/S-Tech set up when it's all said and done.
When you think about being able to buy USED coilovers for less than 1/2 that price, I can't comprehend why you would spend so much money on struts. For example I just picked up a set of slightly used HKS coilovers for my G50 for $250, plus shipping $200. So, for $450 shipped I have a pretty decent set of HKS coilovers. Now, I understand that I'm talking about coilovers for a much older car here... and granted Y33 stuff will be a little more expensive, however, Y33 coilovers usually go for about $600ish... for something used. I'm not saying they are the easiest thing to have shipped either, but for the amount of time and effort you put into finding someone to ship the shocks for you, you could have easily found someone to ship coilovers, as they arn't that much heavier than just shocks.
Just something to think about I guess..........
