I finally decided to keep my QX4 for the long run so I decided to "hook it up" the way I want it. I pretty much have everything ordered and on its way. I have the OME 922/923 coil spring to give me a little lift. I had these before on my 95 Pathy with OME shocks and loved them. I got the KYB GR2 struts for the front. Looks like they were the recommended item on NICOclub. I also got the KYB GR2 shocks for the rear. MISTAKE?????? I see that mostly everyone is running Ranchos in the rear and I'm worried the GR2's for the rear are gonna ruin the whole project. I also got the KYB strut mounts and dust boots....GOOD?? NO GOOD?? OEM BETTER???? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, or maybe someone is running this setup now>?? THANKS

And also anyone know how much labor it would be to install the 4 coils springs and shocks/struts??

I think the kyb gr2 are good I am running them front and rear with stock springs. I will be putting on the 922 rear this weekend I will post back the ride difference. But honestly I feel the gr2 are good shocks. I'm sure there are better out there. Kyb is oem maker of shocks. Gr2 are superior to stock

You might run into problems for the back because these shocks are for the stock qx4... with your springs, you have lifted the back and might be having less extension because of these shocks...

Also, very important for the front , get a pair of strut bearings from infiniti/nissan. These things are small plastic rings that take all the pressure of the springs. The kyb ones are prone to failure.

Thanks VG33QX4...I was gonna do mine this weekend too but the springs are coming from AZ and wont be here until next week...I'm taking pics this weekend before and hopefully soon the after.

fleurys....I'm doin this mod basically for looks and improving the ride....not much off roading for me except for the occasional hunting trips. Thanx for the tip on the strut bearings...i'm gonna look into it right now

yea i totally found that plastic bearing chilling on the floor in my garage, its been like 4 months and it makes creeking noise sometimes but thats about it. i definitely did not reinstall it when i did the front on one of the sides. s*** honestly i dont even remember seeing them at all until i saw one one on the floor. i guess they aint that important cause mine works fine without em. oh and the rear lift springs are half inch taller than stock, even factory shocks have enough movement for that slight increase

now im all worried, i gotta figure out which side doesn't have the bearing, crap..... anybody have an idea if this is critical component?

for your shocks, whatever one you go with, you should get energy suspension polyurethane boots, they look great, com in different colors, will last forever, and they cost less then 10 bucks for a package of two

I have kyb gr-2 struts in the front, and kyb gas-a-just shocks in the rear.

From all the reviews ive read before i did my suspension:

kyb gr-2 shocks = GOOD, kyb gas-a-just = Better.

In any case the gr2 shocks should be the same as stock if not slighty better.

Those are great tires monkey. More of a highway tire than an A/T tire. If you don't trail then they are all you need. I went with GR-2's all around and went with the KYB mount and bearings.

The gr2 shocks will not top out in rear I did my Ome 922tonight and first off the springs are not longer than stock. The lift comes from the increased spring rate. In fact they are about 1/4inch shorter than the stocks uncompressed

Yo can undo the sway bar and completely hang the axle fully extended and the shocks would not bottom out

VG33QX4......Any before/after pics?? Would love to see what difference is... I'm getting my springs tomorrow but no damn time to get them put in!!..I called a few guys....one said around $200, the other said about $275 and two others said around $500??? They say its about 5hrs of labor for 4 springs, 2 struts, and 2 shocks. Do these prices sound right???? Does anyone know how much work is really involved in changing all these parts???
