for what purpose? I dont really think there's much difference, I use KYB since I got a good deal on the, and have heard rumors of the tokicos blowing out..

if this is for stock replacement, either will be fine.-chet

blues are WAY better... all gr2's are are stock struts meant to take a drop. with the blues you will actually notice a much stiffer suspension. very nice.

Like Chet said, what type of set up are you looking at? Stock springs, lowering springs? For stock springs, the GR-2 works great. They are aprox. 12-15% firmer than stock but are not designed for lowering springs.

Most basic aftermarket shocks are designed to be 10-20% stiffer than oem to make the car feel new to try to make up for worn rubber bushings in suspension.

Thus they work well with the 10-20% stiffer lowering springs for a short while at least............by 15,000 miles they become softer till around 60k they all are noticably inferior than brand new.Under $100 each shocks [usual $300 a set] are pretty basic compared to $500 each units.

Adjustables are always cost effective since you can tighten them up incrementally every year and get 50-100% more useful life!

I used 4 sets Blues for the last 220,000 miles they work great with Eibachs on Q45 rear like all inexpensive shocks they need changing every 4 years or 60,000 miles.

Shocks must be matched to spring stiffness, if you go beyond 20% stiffer than stock ------Blue and all under $100 each units will wear out really really fast.

And just a reminder, please do not use Sportlines on your 240 with any kind of shock. The Sportlines will blow them prematurely (probably in about a year)

Most oem shocks have a 7" stroke and when used with the proper springs it is +- 3.5". Inexpensive Lowering springs being stiffer have less range [6"]so the springs may only move 2.5-3" in compression, obviously a stock shock cannot damp the same [actually 20% greater] force in less moving distance.

This 20% extra force in 27%-40% shorter distance overheat the shocks and causes wear and failure............always find an adjustable shock that is up to 60% stiffer, then dial in downwards to optimize.

Rebound [adjustability] is the parameter you are most concerned with, as compression is a function of unsprung weight [wheels, tires, brakes, suspension weight].

None of the non adjustable inexpensive aftermarkets are really suitable with lowering springs.

But a $70 shock is cheap and easy to change every 3- 4 years.

The adjustables are always more cost effective as they can be made to last twice as long with better control along the way.

If one races, slaloms, or uses shocks in severe duty [strokes per mile] bad roads......expect half the 3-4 year life.
