Well I got them all in there, but both rears sound like the cap on the top is rattling, except I checked them and they're bolted on tight. I had my dad sit back there while I drove around the driveway and he said it felt like something was hitting the cap when I went over a little bump in the road. I think I tightened the one top screw on the strut as far down as it would go. Is it possible that I went too far down and the rod is banging on cap? I was thinking of just taking the cap off tomorrow and seeing what it does. Anyone else ever have this problem? Thanks.

The torque specs for the piston rod nut are 13-17 ft lbs. You really shouldn't reuse the nut since it's a locking nut. If the AGX's are like the GR-2's, KYB provides you with a new nut.

If everything is torqued down to spec, could it be that the spring isn't properly seated?

An FSM or at least a Chilton's guide would probably help immensely in a situation like this. I'd scan the pages for from the FSM (it's only two pages) for ya, but I don't have a scanner yet. :(

check the rod bushings(see diagram in the FAQ) on the upper spring perch and make sure that you assembled it correctly(no, Im being serious...even experienced mechanics can do that wrong sometimes) then make sure the spring is seated correctly..

Did you use the bumpstops from the stock setup or are you using the agx boots? The agx boots that I had slipped down over the stopper on the pistonrod and that caused a rattling sound because there was an inch or so of play in the spring before the shocks would start dampening. However I doubt this is your case because it was very unstable to drive around in. The only reason i mention this is because before I figured out what was wrong, I thought of taking off the cap to solve the problem as well.

turns out this was exactly my problem..before I came on NICO this morning I took off the assembly on both rear sides and looked at them again. I used the KYB dust boots and when I put them on at first, they wouldn't go down over the little "nub" or "stopper" on the strut rod. I figured this was fine and didn't install the stock bumpstop and that other metal plate. Well, when the weight of the car came down on the strut, the top of the dust boot was pushed over that nub, thus making this gap you are talking about. I made sure the boot was on the lower side of the stopper, placed the plate and bumpstop back on, then the rest of the stuff. That was the problem, there was no noise during my road test. I had it set on 3 and 6 and watching my dad drive it there was like ZERO body roll, it was great. I'm real happy with them. Then again, I went from blown struts to a harder setting on the AGXs..live and let learn, thanks for everyone's help. now I'm DONE modding this car for awhile, time to save the $$.
