KYB AGX W/ Tein S or Sportline setup here in NYC?

Looking to get KYB AGX with Tein S or Sportline for my S13...since i live here in NYC and it is my daily driver...do you think its crazy to set up those with all these horrific potholes here? My mechanic said not to do it...stick with the factory springs...but I would like some fellow NYC NICO members advice or comments...

and also... how hard is it to install it myself...since this is my first time tackling this...my mechanic wants 160 for the job. I was thinking of buying a spring compressor from autozone for like 40 bucks and do the job myself....but ive read from some threads that you dont need a spring compressor for the Tein S becuase they are low as it is??

having a spring compressor is just so you can remove the stock springs without the whole thing flying in your face. And you dont buy the compressor, you rent the compressor. You only need one day for it from what ive heard.
