I'm just curious how others are setting their AGX's? I have a '96 240sx and have mine set at 3 Front and 5 Rear. This is a daily driving setting for me. I am curious how everyone else is riding so I can try some different settings. For now I'm just playing around with them.

I think that depends on what springs you are running. I set mine at 2f & 2r. My S-techs are too stiff in the rear IMO...

Thanks simmode1,

I'm on stock springs right now. I'll get a better set of springs later, I was told by KYB the AGX's are made for the stock (OEM) spring size and not to go any lower than a 1.25" drop.

So, hearing that I decided to put OEM springs on for now, and do my research/save up some money so I can find a good set of springs close to stock size...

Having said that, is anyone besides me running OEM springs on their AGX's? And if so, what do you set yours at?

S-Tech's only go 1.2 in the front and .08 in the rear. Its barely a drop at all. The problem is that the spring rates are too high for the shock valving.

If you are bound and determined to use shocks/strut/spring combo, Eibach Pro springs with Tokico Blue shocks work great. Almost a 2 inch drop and ride quality only 15% harsher than OEM new.

After having both setups, I can say it all truthfulness, I know why ppl jump ship and go with coilovers on daily drivers. They are far greater than...

Well, I already have the KYB AGX's on the car, for now it is what I can afford and I had two blown struts already so I needed them.

I can say they feel pretty good, not coilover good but better than blown stock.

I just got an alignment today, on the drive home the first thing I noticed is that when I let go of the wheel I can count to... almost to two before my car dives to the right... It's going back and they are going to do it right this time.

I'm broke now, I got robbed on top of all of this so yeah... To put it in a nice way they got my new paint job, my new wheels, new tires and my s15 SR swap... and it was all stolen from my very own bank account by my own family.

I also just found out that my sister is sick, and has to go into surgery on Friday. So... It's been a hell of a day.

Thanks again for the info simmode1, it is much appreciated. I still want to hear from some others on their settings too, so if your reading this please post your numbers... Driving is about the only thing to take my mind off of all of this crap.

I have H & R Springs with a 1.5 drop all around. And with the KYB AGX's i am running 3 in the front and 6 in the rear. I was running 3 and 5 before. I wanted to go a little stiffer for better grip.

Kilogram Millimeters all around and if I remember correctly, since it's been so long since I've driven the car, I ran 4 in the front and 4 in the back in town.

I'm running stock springs on AGX's but it's an s13, so it might not apply to you. In any case, i usually run 2 in the front and 4 in the rear, and i'm quite happy with things that way. Yes, there's always room for improvement, but for a street-driven car it's more than adequate. However i am planning on getting different springs, not because i want it stiffer, but really because the front in particular is waaaay to high. I'm not too familiar with s14 spring rates/drops, but in general i think Swift springs and Tanabe GF210's are mild-drop and not too stiff to use with AGX's. Good luck.

I drove to NC and back to FL again with them. I have to say on s14 stock springs I like 3 & 6 on the highway and get a looser better feel from 2 & 4 around town.

Thanks everyone for the info!

You guys are all running the rears harder than the fronts????

On my s13 with Koni's I ran the rears about half as soft as I ran the front.

My miata is the same way. I always thought on RWD, or usually any ways, that you wanted the rears softer than the fronts, on rebound anyways.

the fronts aren't softer than the backs. the fronts just have settings from 1-4, 1 being oem and 4 being the stiffest, as the backs have settings 1-8, 1 being oem and 8 being the stiffest, . so a 4f-8r is really like ~255lbs/in front and ~255lbs/in rear or ~4.5kg/mm all around.

I forgot about the 4/8 split front to rear.

i've messed around with mine quite a bit... i have tanabe springs with mine, everything was on the car when i got it, but with f3 and r5 or 6 i feel is best for handling in my s14. i put it on f4 and r8 and it was really good for higher speeds - touge style, but the front started getting some understeer at lower speeds.. i just go out on this deserted desert highway by my house that has a bunch of curves and i just went out one day to feel around... but i always feel it's really easy to get the rear loose with rear set on 3or4. just my opinion tho haha

how is your car so slammed? Cut springs? Do the agx's lower the car at all if anything?

i think it has to do with the amount of weight in the rear compared to the fronts... so the fronts should def be stiffer

i need to stiffen my rear koni's because im scraping my tire... mehsucks i gotta take the strut assembly out, haha but i love them
