hello all, i was considering buying KYB AGX adjustable struts for my 97 240sx LE and was wondering if anyone has these or has had these to let me know what their opinion of them was. they say they are the best struts out on the market, but are they really? for the price that they are, i would certainly hope that they are the best... but i still want some feedback before i buy them. the ride quality i am looking for is stiff, but still rather comfortable. considering that these struts are adjustable i would figure that i could make my ride quality the way i like it. but how far do they adjust? is the difference night and day? please let me know if it creates a nasty ride quality b/c my friend has a 99 prelude on some ground control coil-overs, and his ride quality is absolute s***. i do not want my 240 feeling like that, especially if i am going to be driving it everyday. ...so give me some pro's and con's guys...Thank you

We sell these and have had very good response from our customers. On the softest setting they provide a little bit of a firmer ride than stock but are not uncomfortable. On the firmest setting they improve handling quite a bit for auto cross or very aggressive driving. The beauty is that you can fine tune them to your own tastes. You're not stuck with a rock hard 'buck board' ride all the time. When you want to go out and have some fun you can crank them up and set them back for daily driving. There are quite a few guys on this board running them now that can back that up. Check some of the other posts about dampers or search using AGX for some more feed back. You can check them out here:http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?...x.jsp;)

I have them and enjoy them. The adjustability is good. I wouldn't say night and day for the adjustability. Its not like a cadillac versus a full-on track racer, however if the AGX is still too stiff for someone on its softest setting, then they probably shouldnt be modifying their suspension at all.

I love mine... esp the adjustability.

However... I can't give you a fair comparison really.

I went from 100k mile stock suspension to KYB AGX, Eibach Pro Kit and Front & Rear Strut bars in one shot. It was night and day but I think the most reasonable comparison would be someone who only changed shocks and nothing else.

I put them on my accord with the crappy Maxspeed "coilovers" that were on the car when I got it and I was happy with them. I just finished installing them on my 240 and I will say that they are sooo much better when paired with a good set of springs. After a lot of searching I am happy with my my suspension choice. I will also never go back to non-adjustable shocks.

i have AGXs and tein springs on my 240...i went from broke **** stock suspension (the struts and shocks were TOTALLY blown to the point where the strut rod could be pushed into the strut shaft with minimal ease and never came out so i was basically running around on springs NOT FUN) to the setup i have now...and yes just the struts and spings alone is night and day...i plan on replacing ALL the bushings with new ones as well as tension rods and control arms etc...but yes the AGXs are worth it...though not as stiff as the Tein HEs or up...they are a nice cheap way of getting stiff suspension (or soft since they are 4/8 way adjustable) im really big into drifting and these struts/shocks brought a whole new vew on to driving for me...also its not just the shocks/struts...look springs rates (if youre looking for new springs as well) the tein Stechs are pretty decenet...i think theyre a bit too soft...but if youre looking for ride comfort then these are excellent springs to use

yep I have em and I love em. the softest setting is really just a LITTLE stiffer than stock... but the stiff setting oh man its great... makes the car feel REAL tight and nice through the turns. They're a great buy, I wouldnt go with any other shock.

I had em on my 95 Civic hatch. I didn't like them. Never had another shock on their besides the AGX...

On a rough, turn the car would skip or skate across the asphalt. Not only that, but they would bottom out with H&R Race springs. I think the springs dropped too much for the AGX, but be it the improper ride height or not enough damping, I wasn't happy and vowed never to go with AGX again. Consequently, I'm getting Teins or JIC coilovers. For a couple of reasons. One. Simply for the quality. Two. Because the dampers come valved for a specific spring rate. Three. You get dampers and springs from the same company eliminating the research involved with spec'ing an adequate spring/rate for the damper. Four. They are track proven to be bad A$$!
