Hey guys, im looking for a good rotor, but thats fairly easy on the walet. Here are the two im looking at:

PDM racings KVR rotors, which are cross drilled but not slotted.

http://www.pdm-racing.com/prod....html

And "Turboimport.com's" slotted and "dimpled" rotors.

http://www.turboimport.com/catalog/240sx.htm

Which would you pick out of these? The way i see it, i trust pdm a little more than the 2nd one, but the 2nd ones are cheaper and slotted, while being dimpled vs's drilled. The way i see it, could dimple help with the whole "cross drilled will eventually crack" story? Would you trust turboimport.com??? Which would you chose?

Also, if you know of any other good rotors that are cross drilled and/or slotted for around these prices (200-250) let me know! Thanks, later

I wouldn't go with either. Cross drilled will crack, dimple drilled is just for bling factor. Go with Brembo blanks and some good pads, such as axxis metal master or Hawk. Cheap rotors at http://www.thepartsbin.com

i personally went with:

Brembo blanks ($75 for a pair shipped) Hawk Pads (~$65 shipped for a front set)SS lines ($80 shipped for all 4 corners)Speed Bleeders ($~15 shipped all 4 corners)

all off ebay. Im very happy with the results.

I will be going with:KVR padsss brake linesmotul fluid ~~from pdm racing. I just need to find/ decide on the rotors.

I would like it to be something other than blanks, at least slotted if anything.

What about raceconcepts.com? It seems like they have good stuff, but it doesnt specify what your actually getting, just gives youa part #, but doesnt say if its drilled, slotted, or both..

Anyone buy from them? Or know of other places with rotors?

-Thanks

Just curious, but why do you want slotted/dimpled, etc so bad?

honestly, i think it looks cool... lol

I know...newb!! Ricer!!! well, what ever, I like the look, and since the only visible mods on my car will be 5zigen FN01R-c's and a huge fmic, i figure it will fit nicely in that mix.

Shame on me...

the slots will tear through your pads. They're good for those who spend enough time at the track to justify a fresh brake pad surface to pull in good times, but otherwise it's a waste of money. Unless you're willing to spend the premium on brake pads.

Just as a bit of clarification, cross drilled rotors won't necessarily crack on you. It depends on how they were drilled into the rotor, the material used for rotor, materials used in your brake pads, and how hard you ride your brakes. If cast using proper materials and proper treating methods, and then machined properly, they should last you quite a long time before fatiguing aka cracking.

If you must have them, I'd recommend getting the dimpled for look but slot for more function. I don't really recommend getting both as it'll take it's toll on your brake pads. Even though they're consumables, I'd like to have my consumables last a bit longer eh?

I went with some Brembo blanks too, but since you want something a little more flashy...

Have you looked at Powerslot rotors? They aren't exactly cheap, but I've only heard good things about them.

I don't know much about the KVR rotors, but PDM Racing has a very good reputation, for what that's worth. I'd avoid the cheapo ones, since as 180fan hinted at, you don't really know if the rotors were machine properly AND they most likely weren't originally intended for slotting or cross drilling.

On a street car, slotted/drilled are bling and bad. Once again, I did Brembo blans, SS lines, Axxis MM pads, new OEM MS and booster and DOT 4 fluid. More brakes than I will need and will last for a long, long time. Slotted will last for 6 months to a year before they will crack. You WILL have to replace them once they crack as they will not pass inspection.

gotime,

I have drilled/slotted and thinking about changing back to blanks...rotors aren't big enough to have all this weight removed.

If you think that your drilled rotors will look as good as Porsche's, you're wrong. Blank rotor will look much beefier. Right now it looks like my front disc brake from my mountain bike.

Also drilled/slotted rotors on our application bite a bit later, and that could be a crucial bit, you know.

Another factor against - you will need to wash yer rims at least once a weak coz of all the brake dust those rotors create.

Blank rotors+good pads+good fluid + SS lines = best bang for the buck.
