You still have to remove the intake manifold, both the upper plemun AND lower plenum so you're still looking at a bunch of labor.gotspeed wrote:I am also in need of a timing belt, well since i have to replace my Knock Sensor as well, does anyone think that doing these two jobs at the same time would be a good idea? I mean it wouldnt make things to complicated would it? I am not a rookie when it comes to cars but im no pro either.
How is bypassing the ks altogether better than having one that is relocated and still doing it's job albiet not exactly were it should be?NismoChi wrote:Well, first of all, i have no experience and no idea where to relocate your knock sensor. I just want to give you my opinion on this subject. Nissan put the knock sensor right on top of the engine block for a good reason, to listen to the knocking inside the combustion cambers when it happen, if you are going to put it some where else, how would you know it will still do the job it was supposed to, all it will give you is some false sense of security, if i have only two choices, either use a resistor to bypass the signal, or relocation. I would choose the first one. At least you are aware of the problem and pay more attention to the engine. I know it would be a pain and costly to get the knock sensor replace, but what choices do we have.
The big runners that look like fingers interlocked and going down the to engine is the upper plenum.littlewillie wrote:gr8scott72,What & where are the upper & lower plenum's located?

If you can't find the intake manifold then you have, well, nevermind.....littlewillie wrote:Scott,Do you have a picture of what you are describing? I'm not seeing it.

It's not 3 parts and I didn't say it was three parts. I said that you have to remove the intake manifold which consists of 2 parts, the upper and the lower.littlewillie wrote:
I read this & was trying to figure out what 3 parts you were talking about. I have taken my intake off twice & there was no intake, upper & lower plenum. Just an intake that some refer to as a plenum. Here's a couple pictures of my engine & parts when I replaced the EGR tubes in Nov 2006:
