About time to install the Koyo and Altima fans in 89 with SR and AC removed. I've read some different threads about installs, and using the AC wiring, etc. What's the best way to wire for consistent temps for track car. If I were to get a dual fan controller is there a good easy to use one. The Dif one is NLA and I heard it was hard to use. I'm thinking it might be easier to hard wire one fan into the AC wiring then use an adjustable controller to set the other one to come on around 180. Is the AC wiring enough amps for both fans? Any help is appreciated. Also, with Koyo and Altima fans does the stock intercooler cold pipe fit across it?

If the altima fans draw less than 30a than you should be fine. I don't like fan controllers because they have taken a crap on me and overheated my engine. I just use a 30a relay and a honda accord temp switch (flexalite fans) and works flawless.

If you look it up at a parts store it is call a fan thermo switch our something like that. On a honda its usually bolted to the block. I used a lower radiator hose pipe from a 89-90 240 (other nissans have it too) and put the switch in there and mounted the pipe in line of my upper radiator hose.

I have used this on 20+ swaps. Around $45.

They install easy, can handle 2 fans, include the relay and has adjustable on temp, and an easy to install temp probe that works great.

And this one can use the button-type sensor on the lower radiator hose in the OEM housing. I JB Weld them in.

I would stay away from that first one. That's the one I was talking about that failed on me. The second kit where the sensor actually gets threaded into a coolant source is the one to get! or if your a diy kinda guy make the kit yourself like I did. I have a bunch of wire and relays and other stuff though so only need the thermo switch and housing (found one at the junk yard for free)

Odd, I have used that top one in both of my personal S13's and on countless swaps from the shop with no problems. It was also in the swap kits and cooling kits. I think I had one or 2 defective out of probably 150 sold. I have no hesitation recommending either one. I used to buy them 20 at a time.

Also I do not stick the probe THROUGH the radiator fins, I attach them flat up against the fins on the backside of the radiator near the top hose inlet. Works like a champ.

I got that derale one with threaded probe, I'm gonna be using coolant temp sensor so I can just get a tube with bungs for each. Just got the set one at 180 deg. rather than adjustable one. Gonna start tearing things apart soon, gonna throw on the koyo with fans, new belts, and install gauges and profec. Might do the Cusco EDC at the same time to combine the wiring. Once I put on the koyo I also might have to put on the FMIC if the 5zigen SMIC cold pipe I have doesn't fit across it.

Got the fan bolted up, made a little bracket for the 4th mounting point.

I've read a few DIY but none had pics or diagrams for the wiring. Anyone know of a good one with pics to show which wires to hook up to.

Fans are pretty simple, you will have to most likely cut that plug and run your wire to it. When you run your item wiring, each fan has 2 wires, one power, one ground. just hook one to a power and the other to ground. If thr fan blows the wrong way your power and grounds are backwards.

My fans each have 4 wires, you can see the 4 pins in the top pic.

I'll just give power to the different pins til I find out which is low and high and which direction. That makes it alot easier, I thought I had to hook up a total of 8 wires.
