so i'm getting a radiator and i'm not sure if i want koyo or mishimoto. i've found better reviews on the koyo and i guess some people had problems with the mounting points when they got mishimoto so i figured i'd asked nico! what do you guys think? i don't care about the price difference. :D

By far the Koyo.

They are 3 row (I believe) and have a much better reputation. Mishimoto is more of a knockoff company while Koyo is mainstream and brand-name.

If you have the cash, Koyo is a better choice.

Also, Powered by Max has a really nice 3 row radiator for a decent price too.

And yeah, most of the generic/knockoff radiators are only 2 row.

I have a Mishimoto and i've never had any problems with it.
Car has never over heated and the mounting points were right on.
Both are good.

mishimoto isn't too bad.
it was always a name brand to me.

they're not bad, drifters use them (http://www.mishimotolovesdrifters.com)
pretty self explanatory lol

plus they're priced pretty good.
then again, i haven't looked too far into radiators.
there's also griffin from which i've heard good things about

May be the new fad, but lots of my friends in AZ and NV (mostly track cars) have ditched their koyos for mishis and have been happy that way. A lot of people in warmer climates were having issues with the koyos due to the spacing between the fins not allowing enough air to flow. Maybe Koyo updated their design since then, but I remember a number of people having problems when I lived out there.

Either one is way better than the Stock one, I think Koyo is higher quality personally and i will stick with them. Mishimoto is definitely good too, that would be my next choice.

LOL at people running at 200+F.

My old car was a BPU topmount SR20. I ran the Koyo N-flo with 2 12 inch hayden fans, and a Nismo T-stat. From logging on my Power FC I NEVER saw temps above the 170's. I also live in southern GA where its 90 all summer with 99.9 humidity.

You can buy knock off parts all day long, Just don't expect them to preform like the legitimate company's who actually R&D their products.

Didn't Mishimoto have a problem with their thermostats a little while back? or do I have my facts wrong? I think I saw it on MotoIQ or maybe it was some knockoff company. But yeah since reading about that I never trusted Mishimoto haha. They probably outperform the stock radiator though so theres no way you can go wrong unless you get a busted one from the get go but even then I think they have a limited warranty.

in this instance when you buy a koyo, your paying more money because of all the r&d they put into their product, im saving for a koyo personally. each to his own but koyo is a better product imo

If you want an analogy for these two companies, think of them like Volk wheels and Rota wheels.

Rota might make decent wheels, but Volk came up with the original design.

Might not be the best analogy in the world, lol, but I guess you can kinda see the perspective.
