Hey guys, I recently installed a new Koyo twin row on my stock KA (stock rad took a poop, gonna need the Koyo anyways in the future) with the stock fan clutch and shroud.

When I installed the Koyo radiator, I also installed a new OEM water pump and a new OEM fan clutch.

The problem I'm having is that the engine temperature needle won't budge at all unless I stick some cardboard in front of it. I used Nissan DataScan to monitor temperatures and it wouldn't go above 45C. I then stuck some cardboard in front of the radiator and was able to get around 60ish C, still not hot enough to open the thermostat.

It's an OEM Thermostat.

I've also removed the A/C condenser cause it was damaged beyond any repair and checked the thermostat too. The thermostat was closed when I took it out and was able to get it to open at around 75ish C.

It was around 10C, or 50ishF today outside.

Anyone else having this problem?

Edit: Also, I doubt it's the temp sensors, I have no heat.

My car warms up no problem with the Koyo radiator.
I don't even have a thermostat, though I'm gonna install it soon.

I'm KA-T though....

Anywhere from 60 to the mid 70s (In Fahrenheit), I'll stay at a steady 150 degrees, it just takes longer in 60 degree weather obviously.

wow even while lets say highway driving it stays cold? Idk sounds possible I guess but I would think the thermo would still open up atleast partially. Maybe its on that threshhold while driving and just not getting hot enough from a upgraded radiator on a stock engine, not including the missing condensor.

Razi, are you using the factory fan setup with the shroud?

And yes it stays cold while highway driving. I can pull up the e brake or ride the brakes and it'll slowly creep up to the first 2 notches. As soon as I release the gas, it drops.

Yep.

But the coolant lines that are supposed to go to the throttle body are routed to my turbo.
I'm sure that adds quite a bit of extra heat to the engine.

Cardboard is a cool idea.
I thought about doing that when it was getting cold haha.

I have this issue as well, but only when its below 40 degs or so while at 50+mph. It will warm up normally at low speed or sitting still.

Mine is ka-t, no ac condenser, no clutch fan.

If I ever drive too much during winter I'll go with cardboard as well.

Problem solved...

I think I put a wee too much RTV and kinda kept the thermostat at an angle when I installed it.

Thanks for the help!
