Kouki 180sx bumper "retainer" & Lip...

Does anyone know if the Kouki 180sx front bumper retainer(Part#62040-60F00) is ABSOLUTELY necessary when installing the JDM Kouki 180sx bumper onto a 89-90(zenki) USDM 240sx Front end?? I was told that the retainer helps prevent excessive sagging of the Kouki bumper... I already have the Kouki brackets and extensions... just needed some advice regarding the retainer...

I also heard that the Kouki 180sx Lip is being discontinued... I know that GP Sports has a front spoiler/Lip similar though??... Any other aftermarket lips that's similar to the kouki 180sx front lip by any chance???

I used the stock one, and it worked just fine. However, what will help the most are the retainers that go directly behind the headlights. Those run from the center of the bumper to the top of the fender and really hold up the bumper MORE than the bumper retainer by itself.

The lip is gone. I was told by Nissan that they will no longer sell them. I found this out when I bought the last one Performance Nissan had.

Some people swear that the retainer is needed, some don't.

There are a few options for FRP lips...

only decent fitting frp lip ive seen is one made by modiride.com. the they have horrible customer service so unless you plan to pick it up. I would not deal with them again.

True, as they are not NECESSARY. However, before I found the retainers behind the headlights, the bumper was bouncing around and ripped both fenders. I later found the other retainers at a junk yard. Installed them and now the bumper is SOLID.
