Yes indeed, I'm in Korea and I went to a lot of interesting places on Saturday and took some pictures and thought some of you might be interested in what Korea looks like.

First off, Korea has a great subway system and you can go anywhere in the country if you know which trains to take.
So our first destination: The subway station!
Image
Image
This sign is constantly updating with incoming train information and stuff.

Then we took the train (No pictures of that) and got off at a stop to wait for my cousin.
Looks like this subway station has a more fancier barrier than the last one.
Image
Bad picture, but you get the idea.
They also had an LCD screen next to the doors that will show advertisements when finished.
They also have a cool vending machine at the local subway stop here which I want to take a picture of.
You can purchase books from the vending machine so you can read it during your trip, neat!

Then we arrived at the DongDaeMoon Market and saw these funny socks.
Image
DongDaeMoon was a gigantic gate that protected Seoul way back in the day and it's still there, surrounded by new buildings.
Image
Image
Look at the new buildings behind this ancient structure.

Then we found a place that made steamed dumplings and bought 4 large ones.
Image
Nom nom nom, I wish I had some now, they were delicious.

Then we walked around the market and saw that there were a whole lot of stores selling shoes or clothing.
Image
This store only seemed to be selling t-shirts for the World Cup game.

Next to the market ran along a small stream, which has an interesting story.
The stream was originally underground and above it was a regular street for cars to drive on.
Then I think the current president, before election, redid the whole place and dug down to the stream and rebuilt everything so it could still support life for the fishies and give people a place to walk and relax.
Looked like a popular place for couples.
Image
Image
The fishes are pretty huge as well almost 2 feet long I'd say.
The Pyoung Hwa market right next to the stream.
Image
Random art on the walls.
Image

We kept walking along until we were next to the Kwang Jang market, and climbed the stairs and walked inside and this is what I saw.
Image
That was just the entrance, the middle of this market is even more hectic, but I didn't get a good picture of that. :(
We came upon a famous restaurant that makes some Korean pancake thingies, I don't know what I'd call them in English though. :gapteeth:
A shot of the small machine milling the corn.
Image

Unlike the traditional way of making these, they are frying these with a large amount of oil.
Image
They are about twice as thick as well.
Image
Crunchy, crispy, and yummy.

After we ate that, we made a bee line towards the outside and looked for a taxi cab.
The taxi cab was a nice escape from the warm air outside, and it was quite comfy!
Too bad the driver tried to take the long way around when he heard that I was from America, probably thought he could trick us.
My aunt told him to drop us off a few blocks down and arrived at InsaDong.
Cool gate:
Image

Random VW in a sea of Korean cars.
Image
Then a second later, a Porsche!
Image
A typical busy crosswalk.
Image

Then we started walking around.
Image
Cool traditional Korean masks.
Image

Then we heard some music playing, then immediately noticed a drunk in a grey shirt that was quite enjoying the music that was playing.
Image
He was really getting into it.
Image
Haha, hilarious

Then we made a right into what looked like a small alley way, but it turned out to be different!
Image
Image
I didn't go to the upper stories, but there were a lot of clothing stores and stuff up there.
Cool looking building.

Also bought something that was called "poop bread" because it's shaped like poop haha, so many funny things here.
Tasted alright.
Image

Random tarot card reading place.
Wouldn't give them my money in a million years.
Image

We walked out of that corner of the street and kept looking around at shops and things.
Then I spotted some drawings on the wall which I thought were cool.
Image
A weird toyshop on the 2nd floor of a building.
That green thing is Dooly, a cartoon character, it's supposed to be small and cute in the cartoon.
That costume...is not.
Image
A shop that sold traditional Korean art.
Image

Pencil cases!
Image
Omg robot!
Image

After all that we headed back the way we came and got to the subway.
Spotted a soccer ad.
Image
I believe that is figure skater Yuna Kim in the middle.
Image

Bought some toast at the subway and ate it at home.
Image
The end!

They would never have anything like that stone walkway in America. Too many liability issues. :P

Is this like Jun? There's a take-out place near my office that sells really good fish jun.

Never seen them so thick though, and not usually fried quite like that. Looks good!

I really want to go to Seoul, seems like a cool place.

I never tried Jun, but yeah this place makes these patties pretty thick, and fries em which is uncommon.
It's pretty good though.
What I want is more of those large dumplings, there is one a few blocks down from my house so maybe I'll get some tomorrow.

You should visit Seoul, there's a lot of stuff to look at.
Also, the roads here are so well taken care of, haven't seen a pothole the entire time I've been here, I wish the roads in California was like that.

was gonna say that as well, but i think he literally meant the stones you can walk across in the stream. No walking stones at the Riverwalk.

Also, i was stationed in Korea for 2 years from 05-07 and went to Seoul for new years 06. AWESOME place. What i wouldn't give to visit there again. The women, food and culture are all amazing. Odd at first but great.

The dealerships that sell those cars have "Renault Samsung" written here and there.
There's a dealership very close to here, I'll take a picture tomorrow of these weird Samsung cars tomorrow.
And their car emblem design looks pretty lame.

There are a lot of other weird cars here too, I'll take a picture of a lot of them tomorrow on my way to the market.

Going to InsaDong again this weekend.
Before then, I'm not sure haha.
We just think of something to do and make plans for the next day.
I'll be sure to carry my camera more often with me, I see a lot of interesting stuff everyday.

I really wish I had my camera with me when I saw this cool mini tow-truck.
It had some aftermarket wheels up front and all wheels were painted yellow.
Had some aftermarket bumper and lip with an intercooler behind it.
Then 30 minutes after I saw it, I saw the thing hauling azz down the road and I heard it's little blow off valve going off.
Such a funny car.

Haha, that's awesome!
Did you buy anything from the toyshop?
I so desperately want to ride a bicycle, but I'll only be able to use it for a short while before being unable to ride it, so that'd be a waste to buy one.

LOL, I used to watch the cartoons of Dooly, but that large costume weirded me out.
