I just purchaced a set of Koni Sport single adjustable (rebound) shocks... or koni yellows to the masses.

I'm planning on using them with the stock 240sx springs as to stay in the SCCA solo II G-stock class. I realized when I got the shocks though that they did not come with their own spring perches. I was wondering if anyone has ever encountered this problem, and if so, how did they solve it? I have been told that i have to take apart my old strut and use peices from it to install the new ones.

Any help would be much appriciated.

I think the front is an insert while the rear should have removable perches right?

can someone help this guy out, I have not dealt with konis on a 240 yet...

i just put some koni yellows with eibachs in and, the front ones you have to hack off the top part before a metal piece before the chrome shaft, youll need a sharp hack saw and a vice, but be careful and try to cut straight because you will have to use the lower part of the shock,(nissan makes some hard steel) as for the rear ones i used a rubber tip hammer (dont know the actual term)and hit the spring seat off the top of the shock, you have to saw a piece off of these too to do so, there is a piece that the seat cant get over because its too small, but you dont need this piece so i sawed it half way and used a hammer.

the front ones go inside the old hollow shocks that you sawed off, you put the old spring seats on the new shocks in the rear and they bolt right up, be sure to replace the boot if its destroyed like mine was, from nissan the stock boots will cost you $25 a piece for front, and a whopping $50 a piece for rear

I hope this helped

Thanks for the info... Just one more question:

In the instructions, it says to drill a hole in the bottom... nobody has touched on this yet though, is it nessicary?

you drill a hole in the bottom of the old struts because there is a hole in the bottom of the konis. so when you put the konis inside the old shock assembly the holes match up and thats what holds the shocks together (drilling is only neccesary on the front ones obviously) just make sure you center punch it so youre dead in the center or the holes wont match up. it might seem like the bolt they give you isnt long enough, but if your holes are aligned itll fit, and once you start the bolt in, dont count on getting the koni back out.

I got mine from a friend of mine's store around where I live. They were about $520. The site for the store is http://www.stranoparts.com

By the way, I got mine all finished up and they ride beautifully! It decreased my body roll and break/accelleration pitch to almost nil. The shocks arent too harsh either, only a little less comfortable than usual.

Thanks for the help!
