agx's are easier to adjust in the rear of the car, yellows have to be removed.

koni's are sort of a pita to install since you have to cut the old shock apart and drill a hole in the bottom, but they can be re-valved and are more flexible to specific applications

Koni > KYB. Koni's come with a lifetime warranty for a reason (granted you use the right springs, etc). A bit more akward during the install, and a bit more difficult to adjust, but once they're set, you're good for a much longer time than anything the KYB AGX's can do.

Well, Koni's may be > than KYB, but KYB comes w/ a lifetime warranty also (granted if you use the rights springs also). I'm using sportlines, so I think think both Koni & KYB disown me, haha. I personally run KYB bcs that's what I was able to get at a good price on.

But yes, if you are really picky, I've heard that kyb's are under dampered in the rear compared to koni's, etc. What does under dampening do anyway?

koni yellows -

the fronts are inserts. meaning you have to saw through the stock strut and insert the koni inside, it really isnt that bad, just takes a while. konis are much better than kyb or tokico.

but if you dont plan on running a particularly stiff spring, you should be fine with kybs or tokicos.

Depending on weither you are running a coilover set up on either of these particular struts and how much you have been price quoted you can go to the nissan dealer or website and order a set of Nismo non-adjustable strut/spring setups for around $600-$700. Try here,

I run KYB AGX's and ST springs, the combination is great for daily driving or spirited driving. If you are serious about auto-x or road racing, look into a more adjustable coil-over setup.

the agx from is fine but the rear sucks... the dampering sucks no matter how I set it... 1 to 8

the shock eye is wearing out and it;s making nouse... I contacted kyb and troy refuse to service the shocks... he will not send me the shock eye even if I pay for it, he won't let me send the shocks in and said I have to go to where I get it from

the rear is relly the only ones I have problem with. if it requires drilling for the from then that's really a *****, just get agx for front and yelow for rear. I might be do that if the repair don't fall through with kyb and if I do I'll give you guys some feedback

Sorry for such the newbish question: exactly what does the under dampening do?

It makes the rear bouncy, jiggly, and unstable in sharp turns under load. Not a good thing.

I have 5.0/4.2kgmm front/rear springs and the AGX at all 4 corners. The fronts are fine, have no problems with dampening. The rears stink. Even at full setting they are just not up to the task of handling the springs. I'll be replacing them with Koni's in the near future. The ease of adjustability factor doesn't bother me, I always leave them on the hardest setting anyway...

EDIT: or better yet, find some GAB short strokes.

Thanks meantime, I was thinking it was somewhere along those lines.

Just to kind of take this thread to a slightly new level , adding in some aftermarket sway bars should help w/ the dampening issues in the rear since it distributes load better correct?

The sway bar reduces body roll by distributing load, so the effects of underdampening wouldn't be felt as severely, but it won't eliminate it. Better dampening is the only real solution.

It depends what kind of spring you are planning on using, also. AGX are fine for stock springs or Pro-kits, but not well suited to very short and/or very stiff springs.

I run KYB and RSR RACE springs... (Which I think are the stiffest made)

I have had this setup for over a year and about 20k miles. No Issues.

I run full hard front and 6 of 8 on back.

I have the same setup. There are stiffer springs out there but I'm satisfied with the RS*R's. So far I have about 6000 miles on mine. No problems, just not that happy with the rears.

it depends on what you mean by agressive. I have that setup and won't drive it full stiff on the streets by any means.
