I've been searching all day trying to find out exactly what is needed to run either Koni's with ground control sleeves and springs of my choosing.

Obviously I can't use the sport inserts, because then I'm not really gonna be putting a sleeve on the shock body for adjustability; then its just a drop spring/shock combo.

Because of the nature of the front insert, MUST it be custom work in order to place a sleeve on it and mount it to the car? One website I browsed through ( http://www.pdm-racing.com ) had this at the bottom of the Koni section on their website - "PDM Racing can do custom front insert machining along with Ground Control coil over perches with refundable core fees. Contact PDM about this service."

I'm just really confused here. Most of the posts I've read through today make mention of having Koni's and GC's but no one says anything about having to have had the front struts modified in order to allow coilover sleeves to be put on them. Can I just buy 8212's, slap GC sleeves on them and have what I'm looking for?

PLEASE HELP I'M GOING CRAZY TRYING TO FIGURE THIS s*** OUT.

*On a side note, please don't turn this into an argument for buying coilovers instead; or Stance this, Megan that, Tein whatever blah blah blah. I'm trying to get the input of owners actually running this set-up. I need to know if this is worth the hassle versus buying a coilover with decent feedback about dampening and tossing on Swift springs.

I'm assuming you're asking about the koni yellows, so my answer will be based on that assumption.

If you get the ground control coilover kit meant for koni shocks, the sleeves fit right over the stock housings.

Yes, modification of the shock housing is required to fit the yellows. The front shocks are inserts, and your stock struts need to be gutted in order to insert the new shock in. There is a write up on here to do it somewhere on here.

Okay, with that being said, I don't have OEM struts. I bought the car lowered on some no name springs and KYB AGX's.

Can i gut the AGX's and do the same, or is the Koni setup intended for use with only OEM struts?

I don't know the diameter of the AGX's, but if i had to guess i would say you probably wouldn't be able to use them. I would just look for a set for sale and snag those, I bet you could find them dirt cheap.
