Hello all. First off I apologize if there is already a thread on this, but I have searched several different ways and cant find one.

I am new to Nissans and am close to buying either an 02 or 03 Maxima 6sp manual. Just wondered if anyone could let me know what sort or mechanical issues or trouble spots I should be looking for when buying. Probably looking at a car with 70K to 90K on the odometer. Any help from the vast knowledge that is available here would be much appreciated!

Since it's a 6 speed, I would determine if it has been abused. i.e. raced.

Make sure the clutch is still nice and firm. I would probably insist on service records.

Check the oil for coolant. Check the coolant for oil. Make sure the brakes are firm and not squishy.

Test the a/c & heater.

Maybe one of the 5.5 gen owners can chime in here.

Take it for a spin with everything cold to see if the transmission is rough into third.

Thanks for the info guys I really appreciate it.

I will most likely not get to test drive it first as I will purchase on Ebay. This will be the 4th car that I have purchased on Ebay and not a badexperience yet. Besides.....I like getting cars at wholesale prices.

Any other things I should look for? I will go over it pretty thoroughly afterI go to pick it up.

Thanks again
