I'd say that's an excellent deal. I paid $13900 for my 99 QX4 with 70k miles, but this was 3.5 years ago when that was the cheapest deal I could find, it had disgusting oil and a busted door lock from being broken into.... the next cheapest QX4 was $15k Now I see QX4's going for $6k on craigslist and it makes me go "damn".KoukiS14 wrote:I paid 9966 for my 99.5 QX4 (all the changes that the 2000 has) with 51,100 miles. Not a whole lot more considering the mileage difference.
I've always been a Nissan guy -- you can get a decent vehicle for a decent price. I was originally out to buy an I30/I35 or a Q45, but opted instead for something I can take off some sweet jumps.Av10sguy wrote:Yea she owes $8,000 on it but i think that she will end up taking a loss due to the current millage she has on it right now. I would love to hold out for a 2001, but hell that would be a lot more money. Would the 2001+ 3.5 engine fit in the engine bay of a 2000? Also would it be very hard to do a 2001 front end conversion? My mom has a 2001 I35 and let me say that her car can haul some serious a$$!
Yea i know that the nissan engines are built damn well! I currentally drive a ford, and it seems like every other month something goes out in the damn thing! I just would like something that i can trust...and i have never owned a SUV before and i wouldnt mind the change. Is insurance a killer on these cars being they are a luxury car? Thanks for your help guys, i really appreciate it!fueler wrote:i have 126k CITY miles (yikes) on my 99 QX4 and i've never had a single problem.
You will not be disappointed with this car, I expect to put 300k on mine. Timing belt interval is scheduled at 105k miles according to Nissan. Has this been done? Since this was a girls car, i'm going to guess "no". This is a $600 job with new water pump, thermostat, all belts and fluids, and this is done as a scheduled maintenance. Really, all you need to do is change the oil regularly and do the t-belt every 150k or less, and you will never have any problem. The 2001+ models have a larger 3.5 V6 with new ignition setup, it is stronger but has much more problems than the bulletproof VG33 engine in the 00 QX4. The problem lie in the individual ignition coils (97-00 was distributor, 01+ is individual coils) if you read this board, you'll find that anybody who's been having ignition problems has a 2001 or higher. I would not waste my time with a 2001+ because I simply don't like to get stranded, even if it is only once in a blue moon. I usually drive 500 miles deep into Baja, with nothing in any direction for 100 miles, the last thing I need is a car I can't trust.
Welcome the club!!Av10sguy wrote:Well...I will know for sure tomorrow, but it looks like i found a buyer for my car, and i will be taking over my sisters pearl white 2000 Qx4. I am getting it for 6,700! Not too shabby considering it has 130K on it, but 100K of the miles are all highway miles! I look forward to being a new active member on the forums once this is a done deal. And of course ill post some pics of it!
