my rear right wheel is making the sound that an aftermarket dif makes. it makes the sound if the torque comes to the wheel to quickly. if i ease out the clutch the sound seems to go away. it also will make the sound going into driveways and bumps when the wheel is under load. im so confused. ive tried to diagnose the problem. today my freind told me thats the sound his wrx made before it blew the trans (probly something to do with the awd system on the wrx) . i thought it might have been the rear brakes so i changed the pads this weekend. iv narrowed it down to some kind of bearing, bushing in the rear arm or possibly a strut. any input would be sex. thanks

i would say your wheel bearing is bad, if it wasn"t brake pads, its either the bearing or it is suspension related.

I'd say somethings up with your strut maybe comin loose? you should check all the bolts that hold it on. I would'nt nessarily say you have a blown strut but could be possible. if you were to push down on your trunk real hard does it go down easily? or near impossible. just a few suggestions. wheel bearing could be possible but everytime i've known of a wheel bearing to go bad it makes constant noise not on and off.

thanks good info. i was pushing down on the trunk earlier and i didnt seem too hard to push down, but then again i never pushed it down normaly. do u think if i open my trunk and stand in it and get the suspension lower it would make a difference? i got called into work tomorrow so im still not goingto be able to look at it until thursday..thats if i can take off work.

if you were to try like bouncing your car in the rear if it keeps bouncing after you stop most likely you need new struts.
