Welcome aboard!

Need more info.

Take a long screwdriver and place it at the front of the valve cover (where it meets the head) and put your ear on the handle. Is the sound more of a "clicking" coming from there? If so, no biggie. Timing chain guide.

If it's a deeper "knocking" sound, does the sound ONLY happen at idle and deceleration (but go away under load)? Test by placing it in D and holding the brake while lightly presing the throttle (or putting it in gear and lightly applying the e-brake while accelerating).

If the sound goes away (or gets quieter) under load, it's likely a bearing and you're pulling a motor out.

I did the test and the sound went away when i put it in gear, use the e-brake and accelerated. the knocking is a deep sound. when i started at first there was no sound but then after idling for 2 mins it started. thanks, so do u think its just the bearing?

Pull one spark plug wire off at a time and see if the knocking goes away or gets quieter. This will help you isolate the cylinder the knocking is on and tells you if you do have a bad bearing.(takes the load off the bearing).

hey moneypit, I took it to a mechanic for a check and he is bent on telling me its the time chain that is loose. Do I run the engine while I pull the plugs individually?

Yes. Run the engine so you hear the knocking. Pull them one at a time. Does the knock go away with any one cylinder not firing?

ok, here's the deal,,, I checked the oil and there is no metal stuff on it,,,(clean)I removed the plugs as suggested and the knocking sounds the same for all, did not go away... does this still sound like the rod or the chain? the mechhanic was saying could be chain and tensioner!!!-

will post any new findings

doesn't sound like rod knock. Did you listen to it with a stethascope (or screw driver if you don't have one) like recomended?

does the knck get louder when the rpms go up search you tube see if it sounds like any of those 240 rod knocks and there may not always be meatal in the oil if the bearing is gone if it is early in the rod blowing

Sometimes a crack in the flywheel can make a knocking sound and goes away when in gear. If you remove the starter and look thru the hole you may be able to see a crack. Just something else to consider.

Its not a big problem. Get it solved by related mechanic.

Ok guys the sound is a timimg chain problem, I will try post a video of the sound.below is a pic of the valve cover off, and we can see the tensioner pushed all the way in. well am hoping that this is the real prob of the sound. mechanic also said the teeth are worn so seems i need a full kit.

hey bro,did not do that yet, but this is what i did. I had the valve cover removed and the tensioner was pushed all the way in, mechanic said it is bad, also he said the sprockets are worn a bit. but most people from what I am hearing is saying it is the chain guide, so I am planning to remove it and see if the sound goes away.this is the link to a pic of the tensioner

knocking sound fixed. you guys are the best. I will post a link to the new soound and pic of the chain guide. I removed the guides 1 and 2 and I used a lubricant to loosen up the tensioner. It took about 1/2 hour to take the valve cover and camshaft cover off. mechanic was ready to charge me $1000 to do a chain job..

After hearing the video I was like Yup its the guide, but at that mileage you may want to do a new tensioner.
